Tamás Adamik
Tamás Adamik (born August 6, 1937) is a Hungarian classical philologist and linguist, literary historian, and translator. He joined Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest as a professor in 1973, where he worked in its Latin department until he took emeritus status in 2002. Adamik's areas of research focus have included Roman literature in Latin, Vulgar Latin, and Koine Greek; as well as early Christian literature. Biography Tamás Adamik was born in 1937 in Kecskemét in the Kingdom of Hungary. He attended a high school run by the Piarists in Kecskemét. He showed an early interest in languages, with his areas of special focus being Latin and Russian. He was so impressed by the Piarists that he considered joining the order as a monk, and studied theology with them for four years, but decided that giving up marriage would be a mistake. Hungarian Order Of Merit
The Hungarian Order of Merit () is the fourth highest State Order of Hungary. Founded in 1991, the order is a revival of an original order founded in 1946 and abolished in 1949. Its origins, however, can be traced to the Order of Merit of the Kingdom of Hungary which existed from 1922 until 1946. In 2011 its official name changed from Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary to Hungarian Order of Merit in accordance with the new Hungarian Constitution. It is awarded in either civilian or military divisions. Since 2011, the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen is the highest State honour of Hungary. Grades The civil division is divided into six grades, whilst the military division is divided into five. Marcus Fabius Quintilianus (; 35 – 100 AD) was a Roman educator and rhetorician born in Hispania, widely referred to in medieval schools of rhetoric and in Renaissance writing. In English translation, he is usually referred to as Quintilian (), although the alternate spellings of Quintillian and Quinctilian are occasionally seen, the latter in older texts.
