Wan Zikri Afthar Ishak
Wan Zikri Afthar Ishak is a Malaysian people, Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Perlis State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) state administration under Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli since November 2023 and Member of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tambun Tulang (state constituency), Tambun Tulang since November 2022. He is a member and Youth Information Chief of Perlis of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the PN coalition. Perlis, ( Northern Malay: ''Peghelih''), also known by its honorific title Perlis Indera Kayangan, is the smallest state in Malaysia by area and population. The Perlis State Legislative Assembly ( ms, Dewan Undangan Negeri Perlis) is the state legislature of the Malaysian state of Perlis. Perlis State Executive Council
The Perlis State Executive Council is the executive authority of the Government of Perlis, Malaysia. The Council comprises the Menteri Besar, appointed by the Raja on the basis that he is able to command a majority in the Perlis State Legislative Assembly, a number of members made up of members of the Assembly, the State Secretary, the State Legal Adviser and the State Financial Officer. This Council is similar in structure and role to the Cabinet of Malaysia, while being smaller in size. As federal and state responsibilities differ, there are a number of portfolios that differ between the federal and state governments. In a first-past-the-post electoral system (FPTP or FPP), formally called single-member plurality voting (SMP) when used in single-member districts or informally choose-one voting in contrast to ranked voting, or score voting, voters cast their vote for a candidate of their choice, and the candidate who receives the most votes wins even if the top candidate gets less than 50%, which can happen when there are more than two popular candidates. 2022 Perlis State Election
The 2022 Perlis state election, formally the 15th Perlis state election, took place on 19 November 2022. This election was to elect 15 members of the 15th Perlis State Legislative Assembly. The previous assembly was dissolved on 14 October 2022. The incumbent Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition faced a historic wipeout (first time in Perlis and second time in national level), winning no seats. The Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition won 14 of 15 seats (achieving supermajority) and formed the first ever non-UMNO/BN government in the state's history. Pakatan Harapan (PH) meanwhile won only one seat, becoming the sole opposition in the state assembly.
