Taman Free School
Taman Free School is a residential neighbourhood within the downtown core of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is named after the nearby Penang Free School. History Taman Free School mainly consists of low- and medium-cost flats and apartments, which were built in the 1970s. Each of the walk-up apartments is five-stories high and was not equipped with lifts at the time of construction. In recent years, proposals have been made to rejuvenate the area, which entails the improvement of public facilities and the construction of newer apartments to lower maintenance costs. Transportation Taman Free School is bounded by Jalan P. Ramlee to the north, Free School Road to the south and Jalan Trengganu to the west. The neighbourhood is served by Rapid Penang's bus route 206, which includes stops along the aforementioned roads, and links the neighbourhood with the city centre, Green Lane and Gelugor. Penang Free School
Penang Free School (PFS), located at Green Lane, George Town, Green Lane in George Town, Penang, George Town, Penang, Malaysia, is the oldest English-medium education, English-medium school in Southeast Asia. Heng Ee High School
Heng Ee High School ( zh, , s=恒毅国民型华文中学, t=恆毅國民型華文中學, p=, poj=Hêng-gī kok-bîn-hêng huâ-bûn tiong-o̍h; ) is a Chinese conforming national-type Catholic secondary school located in George Town; Penang. Founding Heng Ee High School was founded by a Belgian Roman Catholic expatriate missionary priest, Dato' Father Arthur A. Julien, from the Paris Foreign Missions Society in 1957. Father Julien arrived in Malaysia in 1952. He served as parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows from 1961 to 1963, and as assistant parish priest to the Church of the Holy Spirit (now Cathedral of the Holy Spirit) with Father Paul Decroix between 1976 and 1984. Gelugor
Gelugor is a suburb of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Named after a plant species, Gelugor lies along the eastern seaboard of Penang Island, between Jelutong and Sungai Dua, and nearly south of the city centre. Gelugor had been populated as early as the late 18th century by Malay fishermen who arrived from Sumatra. The area was then cleared for agricultural plantations by David Brown, a partner of Captain Francis Light. Urbanisation of the area began in earnest in the 1960s, when residential estates were established within the area. Gelugor gradually turned into a suburb, helped by its strategic location right in between the city centre and Bayan Lepas to the south. Green Lane, George Town
Green Lane is a major thoroughfare within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Part of Penang Middle Ring Road, Green Lane starts from the intersection with Scotland and Ayer Itam roads, and stretches southwards to the Udini Roundabout. Once a quiet, leafy road, Green Lane has witnessed rapid urbanisation since the 1950s, turning it into an affluent neighbourhood. Even so, the road is still well-known for its greenery, with mature trees lining both sides of Green Lane, as well as its central divider.
