Taluqdars or Talukdar (Hindustani: Devanagari: ; Perso-Arabic: , ; from ''taluq'' "estate/attachment" + '' dar'' "owner"), were aristocrats who formed the ruling class during the Delhi Sultanate, Bengal Sultanate, Mughal Empire and British Raj. They were owners of a vast amount of lands, consistently hereditary, and were responsible for collecting taxes. Motahar Hossain Talukder (1922–2 December 2001), also known as Motahar Master, was a politician from Sirajganj District of Bangladesh. He was posthumously awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2021 by the Government of Bangladesh for his significant contribution to the Bengali language movement. Early life Talukdar was born in 1922 in Gazaria in Ratankandi Union, Sirajganj. His father Naimuddin Talukder was a teacher. He completed higher secondary from Pabna Edward College and completed BSc from Rajshahi College. Career Talukder was the former governor of Sirajganj District during the BAKSAL period. Mahbub Talukdar (13 February 1942 – 24 August 2022) was a Bangladeshi poet, writer, civil servant, and one of the Election Commissioners of Bangladesh. Jayanta Talukdar (born 2 March 1986 in Guwahati) is an Indian archer from Assam. He has won individual gold Medal in the 2006 Archery World Cup. Career Talukdar was part of the Indian team that won the silver medal at the 2004 Junior World Championships. He followed up with a gold medal at the FITA Meteksan World Cup in 2006, becoming the first Indian archer (bhartiya tirandaj) to win gold at the event. Mohammad Jahangir Alam Talukdar (born 4 December 1968) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who played in two One Day Internationals in 1990. A left-arm fast bowler (commonly called Dulu) he first played for Bangladesh side in a three-day match against Pakistan in January 1986.
