In Greek mythology, Talos — also spelled Talus (; el, Τάλως, ''Tálōs'') or Talon (; el, Τάλων, ''Tálōn'') — was a giant automaton made of bronze to protect Europa in Crete from pirates and invaders. Talos (musician)
Eoin French (born 1987), known professionally as Talos, is an Irish indie electronic musician from Cork. Early life Eoin French grew up on the north side of Cork. He trained as an architect and lectured in architecture at University College Cork. He was a member of the band Hush War Cry, and also studied at Cork School of Music. His stage name is a reference to the mythical Talos, a giant automaton made of bronze that protected Crete. Career Talos began his career in 2013. In Greek mythology, Talos (; Ancient Greek: Τάλως ''Talōs'') was an Athenian inventor. On some accounts, Talos was also called Attalus (Ἄτταλος) or Calus/Calos (Κάλως).Pausanias, 1.21.4 Family Talos was the son of Perdix, sister of Daedalus. Talos Dome () (sometimes spelled Thalos Dome) is a large ice dome rising to 2,300 m to the southwest of the Usarp Mountains in Antarctica. The dome overlies the east margin of the Wilkes Subglacial Basin. ''Talos'' is an extinct genus of carnivorous bird-like theropod dinosaur, an advanced troodontid which lived during the late Cretaceous period (late Campanian, about 76 Ma) in the geographic area that is now Utah, United States. Discovery ''Talos'' is known only from the holotype specimen UMNH VP 19479, a partial postcranial skeleton of a subadult individual including the hindlimbs, pelvis, vertebral fragments, chevrons and the left ulna. It was discovered and collected in 2008 by M. J. Bendix RIM-8 Talos was a long-range naval surface-to-air missile, and was among the earliest surface-to-air missiles to equip United States Navy ships. The Talos used radar beam riding for guidance to the vicinity of its target, and semiactive radar homing (SARH) for terminal guidance.
