Tallulah Bankhead
Tallulah Brockman Bankhead (January 31, 1902 – December 12, 1968) was an American actress. Primarily an actress of the stage, Bankhead also appeared in several films including an award-winning performance in Alfred Hitchcock's ''Lifeboat (1944 film), Lifeboat'' (1944). She also had a brief but successful career on radio and made appearances on television. In all, Bankhead amassed nearly 300 film, stage, television and radio roles during her career. She was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1972 and the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame in 1981. Bankhead House (Jasper, Alabama)
The Bankhead House, also known as Sunset and the John Hollis Bankhead House, is a historic mansion in Jasper, Walker County, Alabama. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 18, 1973. History The Classical Revival-style house was built for John H. Bankhead in 1910. He served in the Alabama Legislature, as a U.S. Representative, and as a U.S. Senator. His granddaughter, the award-winning actress Tallulah Brockman Bankhead and her sister Eugenia, were raised in the house when Congress was not in session. Schiffman Building
The Schiffman Building is a historic commercial building in Huntsville, Alabama. The main structure of the building was built in 1845. Originally, it was a three-bay brick building divided by large, flat pilasters. The southern bay, at the corner of East Side Square and Eustis Avenue, was remodeled in the Richardsonian Romanesque style in 1895. The other two bays were demolished in the 1970s. Future Speaker of the U.S. House William B. Bankhead used the building as an office while he was Huntsville's city attorney from 1898–1902; his daughter, actress Tallulah Bankhead, was born in the second floor apartment. Issac Schiffman, a businessman and banker, purchased the building in 1905 and it has remained in the family since.
