Women's Football Alliance
The Women's Football Alliance (WFA) is a professional full-contact Women's American football tackle minor league that began play in 2009. It is the largest 11-on-11 football league for women in the world, and the longest running active women's football league in the U.S. Since 2016, the league has operated with three competitive levels: Pro, Division 2 and Division 3. The league is owned and operated by Jeff King and Lisa Gibbons King of Exeter, California. Lisa King is also a wide receiver for the WFA's, Los Angeles Warriors. In addition to operating annual national championship seasons in the United States, the league also operates the WFA International Program which organizes international competitions for its own Team United and Team World against each other and all-star teams from other nations. Gulf Coast Riptide
The Gulf Coast Riptide was a women's American football full contact football team in the Women's Spring Football League founded in 2001 as the Pensacola Power of the National Women's Football Association. The WFA plays under NFL rules with minor modifications such as ball size and kick off placement. Their home field was Escambia High School in West Pensacola. This team no longer plays. That's when Catherine Masters (NWFA CEO & founder) held tryouts for the first women's football team in Pensacola. Miami Fury
The Miami Fury is a football team in the Women's Football Alliance. Based in Miami, Florida, the Fury plays its home games at Carter Park. History 2000 The Fury was formed as a charter member of the Women's Professional Football League when it started full-league play in 2000 (previously, it had just been a barnstorming venture between the Lake Michigan Minx and the Minnesota Vixen). The Fury were placed in the National Conference South Division alongside their in-state rivals the Daytona Beach Barracudas and the Tampa Tempest. In their inaugural season, the Fury finished with a 3–4 record, in-between the undefeated Barracudas (6–0) and the winless Tempest (0–6). 2001 2001 was a much better year for the Fury, as the team started with a 3–1 record. The Zydeco Spice is a team in the Women's Football Alliance. The team began play in the 2010 season as the Acadiana Zydeco and returned for the 2021 season under a new name. Based in the Acadiana region (and more specifically the Lafayette metropolitan area) of Louisiana, the Zydeco plays its home games at Lafayette Christian Academy in Lafayette.
