Talikatte
Talikatte is a village in the Holalkere Taluk of hitradurga Districtin Karnataka. About 1400 families live in this village. Majority of people living in this village belong to the Kuruba Gowda caste. The nearest Railway station is Ramagiri ,which is 3km far away from the village It has become famous all over India as the village home to about 800 teachers. No other village in India has produced so many teachers. Each family in the village has at least one person in the teaching profession. Holalkere
Holalkere is a town and taluk headquarters located near Chitradurga in the Indian state of Karnataka. Places of worship The town has a temple to the deity Ganesha and was established in 1475 CE by Guthyappa Nayaka. The temple contains Ganesha's monolithic statue, which is about tall. According to local legends, if one worships Ganesha's statue with true devotion, their wishes will be fulfilled. Leela Visranti Dhama, the burial site of late Sri Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Swamiji at Holalkere is developing into a tourist spot due to the efforts of the present Seer Sri Shivamurthy Sharanaru of Chitradurga. Ontikallu matha Senior Muruga Rajendra Swami, who died on 8 August 1994, requested that his remains be buried beside the Ontikallu Matha near Holalkere. Kuruba Gowda
Kuruba is a Hindu caste native to the Indian state of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. They are the third-largest caste group in Karnataka. Traditionally, these are shepherds who used to do the work of sheep/goat and animal husbandry and agriculture, in which they especially raised mixed herds of sheep and goats and cattle. Etymology The term ''kuruba'', meaning ''shepherd'', is derived from ''kuri'', meaning ''sheep'' in Kannada. Shepherding was traditionally their primary occupation and still is for many, who lead a nomadic lifestyle.
