"Tala" () is a song by Filipino singer and actress Sarah Geronimo co-written with Nica del Rosario and Emmanuel Sambayan with music and production by Jumbo De Belen and Alisson Shore of Flip Music Production. It was released as the lead single from Geronimo's platinum album ''The Great Unknown''. The single won “Song of the Year” at the 2017 Myx Music Awards. A tala ( IAST ''tāla'') literally means a 'clap, tapping one's hand on one's arm, a musical measure'. It is the term used in Indian classical music similar to musical meter, that is any rhythmic beat or strike that measures musical time. The measure is typically established by hand clapping, waving, touching fingers on thigh or the other hand, verbally, striking of small cymbals, or a percussion instrument in the Indian subcontinental traditions. Tala is a neighbourhood in North Kolkata in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal. History The East India Company obtained from the Mughal emperor Farrukhsiyar, in 1717, the right to rent from 38 villages surrounding their settlement. Of these 5 lay across the Hooghly in what is now Howrah district. The remaining 33 villages were on the Calcutta side. After the fall of Siraj-ud-daulah, the last independent Nawab of Bengal, it purchased these villages in 1758 from Mir Jafar and reorganised them.
