Hebrew
Hebrew (; ; ) is a Northwest Semitic language of the Afroasiatic language family. Historically, it is one of the spoken languages of the Israelites and their longest-surviving descendants, the Jews and Samaritans. It was largely preserved throughout history as the main liturgical language of Judaism (since the Second Temple period) and Samaritanism. Hebrew is the only Canaanite language still spoken today, and serves as the only truly successful example of a dead language that has been revived. It is also one of only two Northwest Semitic languages still in use, with the other being Aramaic. The earliest examples of written Paleo-Hebrew date back to the 10th century BCE. Tal Benyezri (born 12 December 1989), also mononymously known as TAL, is an Israeli-French singer. She was signed to Warner Music France from 2011 to 2018. In 2021, she changed her artist name to TALOULA and became an independent artist. Biography Tal Benyezri was born in Hadera, Israel. Her family immigrated to Paris (France) before her first birthday. Her name means "morning dew" in Hebrew. She was born into a musical home. Her father was a guitar player, her mother a professional singer under the name Sem Azar. Her brother is a songwriter, her aunt Ronit is a world music/percussionist singer in Miami and her cousin Mor is a jazz singer in New-York. Her mom was pregnant on stage with her. Mikhail Nekhemyevich Tal; rus, Михаил Нехемьевич Таль, ''Mikhail Nekhem'yevich Tal' '', ; sometimes transliterated ''Mihails Tals'' or ''Mihail Tal'' (9 November 1936 – 28 June 1992) was a Soviet-Latvian chess player and the eighth World Chess Champion. Marjo Tal
Marjo Tal (15 January 1915 - 27 August 2006) was a Dutch composer and pianist who wrote the music for over 150 songs and often performed them while accompanying herself on the piano. Life and career Early life Tal was born in The Hague, the oldest of three daughters in a Jewish family. She studied with Sem Dresden and Nelly Wagenaar at the Amsterdam Conservatory. In 1936, she won a 3-year government scholarship to study in London with pianist Franz Osborn, where she also accompanied the students of violinist Carl Flesch. Tal returned to the Netherlands, where she made her debut at the Diligentia Theatre (in The Hague) on 7 March 1940. During WWII, she moved from hiding place to hiding place, and was not able to practice or perform in public. The Merkava ( he, מרכבה, , "chariot") is a series of main battle tanks used by the Israel Defense Forces and the backbone of the IDF's armored corps. The tank began development in 1970, and its first generation, the Merkava mark 1, entered official service in 1979. Four main variants have been deployed. , Merkava mark 4 is the latest version. The Merkava was first used extensively in the 1982 Lebanon War. The name "Merkava" was derived from the IDF's initial development program name. Idan Tal ( he, עידן טל; born 13 September 1975, in Beersheba) is a former Israeli professional footballer. Tal was born in Beersheba, Israel, and is Jewish. He lives in Haifa, is married to Doreen, and has two children, Miron and Amit. Club career Tal started his career at Hapoel Jerusalem FC, moving to Maccabi Petah Tikva F.C. midway through the 1996–97 season. Erez Moshe Tal ( he, ארז טל; born 27 July 1961) is an Israeli television host. Early life Born as Erez Moshe Ben-Tulila in Tel Aviv, Israel, to Jewish parents. His father, Aharon Ben-Tulila, immigrated from Algeria, whereas his mother Edna is Israeli-born. His family Hebraized its surname to Tal (dew in Hebrew) when he was four years old. David Tal ( he, דוד טל) (born 26 January 1950) is an Israeli politician and a former member of the Knesset. He was a member of the Kadima faction. Biography Born in Tunisia and raised in Rehovot, Tal studied at an ORT high school in that city. He served as a First Sergeant during his national service in the IDF and afterwards worked as a mechanic. He speaks English, Arabic and Tunisian. He lives in Rishon LeZion with his wife. David Tal (historian)
David Tal (born 1964) is an Israeli historian and professor. Since 2009, he has been the Kahanoff Chair in Israeli Studies at the University of Calgary. He is an expert on Israel's security and diplomatic history, as well as U.S. disarmament policy. Biography Tal completed all his undergraduate and graduate study in history at Tel Aviv University, receiving his BA in 1986, his MA in 1990, and his PhD in 1995. He was an instructor in the department of history at Tel Aviv University from 1994–1996 and a lecturer in that department and in the Program of Security Studies from 1996–2005. He was a NATO research fellow from 2000–2002.
