Takeoff
Takeoff is the phase of flight in which an aerospace vehicle leaves the ground and becomes airborne. For aircraft traveling vertically, this is known as liftoff. For aircraft that take off horizontally, this usually involves starting with a transition from moving along the ground on a runway. For balloon (aircraft), balloons, helicopters and some specialized fixed-wing aircraft (VTOL aircraft such as the Hawker Siddeley Harrier, Harrier and the Bell Boeing V22 Osprey), no runway is needed. Horizontal Power settings For light aircraft, usually full power is used during takeoff. Large transport category (airliner) aircraft may use a flex temp, reduced power for takeoff, where less than full power is applied in order to prolong engine life, reduce maintenance costs and reduce noise emissions. In some emergency cases, the power used can then be increased to increase the aircraft's performance. Before takeoff, the engines, particularly piston engines, are routinely run up at high po ...

Material Take Off
{{Short description, Bill of quantities, in engineering and construction Material take off (MTO) is a term used in engineering and construction, and refers to a list of materials with quantities and types (such as specific grades of steel) that are required to build a designed structure or item. This list is generated by analysis of a blueprint or other design document. The list of required materials for construction is sometimes referred to as the material take off list (MTOL). Material take off is not limited to the amount of required material, but also the weight of the items taken off. This is important when dealing with larger structures, allowing the company that does the take off to determine total weight of the item and how best to move the item (if necessary) when construction is completed. Definition used by the ISA (International Society of Automation) A material take off (MTO) is the process of analyzing the drawings and determining all the materials required to accompli ...

Takeoff!
''Takeoff!'' is by a 1980 collection of science fiction and fantasy short stories, pastiches, and parodies, by Randall Garrett. Contents The collection includes Garret's novelette ''Despoilers of the Golden Empire,'' a pulp magazine yarn mixing space travel and classic swashbuckling themes to the point where the space-travelling characters fight with swords, bringing to mind the adventures of Flash Gordon, or the Barsoom stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs. The story is later revealed to be a mistelling of the history of conquistador Francisco Pizarro. First published in March 1959, the story was designed as an early April Fools' Day prank. It was re-published in collections such as ''Takeoff!'' and in a later anthology entitled '' Analog's Lighter Side'' edited by Stanley Schmidt. Reception ''Thrust'' called Garrett "one of the more under-rated writers in the field" of science fiction, noting that the collection features "Most of the odd little bits of his humorous writing". This is a list of board games. See the article on game classification for other alternatives, or see Board games for a list of board game articles. Single-player board games Some board games have solo variants, such as ''Arkham Horror'' and ''Agricola''. Others are specifically designed for one player. Two-player abstract strategy games In abstract strategy games, players know the entire game state at all times, and random generators such as dice are not used. Two pilots sit in the cockpit, while a navigator studies his maps, and in the foreground a flight sergeant turns a knob on the wireless device.
