Taj Mir Jawad
Mullah Taj Mir Jawad ( ), also spelt Tajmir Jawad, is the Deputy Director of Intelligence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan since 7 September 2021, alongside Rahmatullah Najib. He is a senior leader of the Haqqani network. Career From 2008, Jawad was believed to be the operational head of several suicide attacks in Kabul as part of the "Kabul Attack Network", most notably the 2011 Inter-Continental Hotel Kabul attack. At this time, he was believed by Afghan and US officials to be living freely in Peshawar, Pakistan. In 2018, Afghan Head of the National Directorate of Security Rahmatullah Nabil blamed Jawad for supervising the Al-Hamza Martyrdom Brigade, a training centre for suicide bombers that he said trained the assassin of police chief Abdul Raziq Achakzai, who had been assassinated that year. Mullah
Mullah (; ) is an honorific title for Shia Islam, Shia and Sunni Muslim clergy or a Muslim mosque leader. The term is also sometimes used for a person who has higher education in Islamic theology and Sharia, sharia law. Abdul Haq Wasiq
Abdul Haq Wasiq ( ; born 1971) is the current Director of Intelligence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan since September 7, 2021. He was previously the Deputy Minister of Intelligence in the former Taliban government (1996–2001). He was held in extrajudicial detention in the Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba, from 2002 to 2014. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 4. American intelligence analysts estimate that he was born in 1971 in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan. Abdul Haq Wasiq arrived at the Guantanamo detention camps on January 11, 2002, and he was held there until May 31, 2014. Abdul Raziq Achakzai
Abdul Raziq Achakzai, also known as General Raziq, ( ps, عبدالرازق اڅکزی; prs, عبدالرازق اچکزی; 1979 – October 18, 2018) was the chief of police for Kandahar Province. Many Afghans regarded him as a national hero while others viewed him simply as a warlord. In late 2001, Achakzai became a member of Gul Agha Sherzai's forces whom the Taliban had surrendered to after the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. Achakzai was considered to be one of the most powerful security officials in Afghanistan for the last few years of his life. Rahmatullah Nabil (born 30 June 1968) is an Afghan politician. He served as Head of the National Directorate of Security from 2010 to 2012. On September 1, 2013, he was reappointed as acting Director due to the health problems suffered by Asadullah Khalid following an attempted assassination. Nabil was officially reappointed as the full-time Director of the NDS on 28 January 2015. Nabil has been blamed for failing to stop the spread of Taliban violence in 2015. 2011 Inter-Continental Hotel Kabul Attack
On 28 June 2011, a group of nine gunmen and suicide bombers attacked the Inter-Continental Hotel, Kabul. The attack and an ensuing five-hour siege left at least 21 people dead, including all nine attackers. Responsibility was claimed by the Taliban. Background Sixty to seventy guests were believed to be staying at the hotel at the time of the attacks. Thirty provincial government officials were staying at the hotel to attend a briefing about the transition of security responsibilities from the U.S. Military to the Afghan security forces. Haqqani Network
The Haqqani network is an Afghan Islamist group, built around the family of the same name, that has used asymmetric warfare in Afghanistan to fight against Soviet forces in the 1980s, and US-led NATO forces and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan government in the 21st century. It is considered to be a "semi-autonomous" offshoot of the Taliban. It has been most active in eastern Afghanistan and across the border in north-west Pakistan. The Haqqani network was founded in 1970 by Jalaluddin Haqqani, a fundamentalist of the Zadran tribe, who fought for Yunus Khalis's mujahideen faction against the Soviets in the 1980s.
