Taiwan Travel Permit
The Taiwan Travel Permit is a travel document issued by the Exit and Entry Administration of the People's Republic of China. This card-size biometric document is issued for its bearers, Chinese citizens residing in the mainland, to travel from the mainland to the Taiwan Area for personal, business, or other purposes. The National Immigration Administration (NIA), alternatively known as the Exit and Entry Administration of the People's Republic of China (for mainland China's regional border controls with Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan), is a sub-ministry-level executive agency administrated by the Ministry of Public Security. The Taiwan Area, also called the Taiwan Area of the Republic of China, the free area of the Republic of China, and the "Tai-Min Area (Taiwan and Fuchien)" , is a term used to refer to the territories under the effective control of the Republic of China (usually called "Taiwan"). It has been in official use since the Additional Articles of the Constitution of the Republic of China took effect, ending temporary anti-communist provisions on 1 May 1991. The Taiwan Entry Permit ( zh, t=入臺證, labels=no), formally the Exit & Entry Permit Taiwan Republic of China, is an entry permit issued by the National Immigration Agency in Taiwan for Chinese citizens from mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau to enter and exit the Taiwan Area. The permit is an e-document that needed to be color-printed on an A4 paper. Despite its name, the permit must be used in conjunction with a valid travel document when entering Taiwan, as the permit itself is not a travel document. The Association for Tourism Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits (ATETS; ) is a semi-official representative office of the People's Republic of China in Taiwan handling tourism-related affairs. Its counterpart body in Mainland China by the Republic of China (Taiwan) is the Taiwan Strait Tourism Association. The CSTEA office is located in Ruentex Tower at Daan District, Taipei. Opening The official opening ceremony of CSTEA in Taiwan was held at the Grand Hotel in Taipei on 7 May 2010. The ceremony was attended by people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
