Tai Hing Estate () is the second public housing estate and the oldest existing public housing estate in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong. There are 8,602 flats on the estate with capacity to house 21,100 people. It is also a district council constituency. It is a traditional strong pro-democratic area, having returned Albert Ho as district councillor in the Legislative Council. History Tai Hing Estate is the oldest existing public housing estate in Tuen Mun District. The site was previously farms near the coastline of Castle Peak Bay before the land reclamation of the bay for the construction of Tuen Mun New Town. Tuen Mun District
Tuen Mun District is one of the 18 administrative districts of Hong Kong. It is the westernmost continental district of Hong Kong. It had a population of 487,546 in 2011. Part of the district is the Tuen Mun New Town (or simply Tuen Mun), which contains one of the largest residential areas in the New Territories. The Education Bureau (EDB) is responsible for formulating and implementing education policies in Hong Kong. The Light Rail, also known as the Light Rail Transit (LRT), officially the North-West Railway, is a light rail system in Hong Kong, serving the northwestern New Territories, within Tuen Mun District and Yuen Long District. The system operates over gauge track, using 750 V DC overhead power supply. It was once one of four systems comprising the KCR network in Hong Kong, before the MTR–KCR merger in 2007. San Fat Estate
San Fat Estate () was the first public housing estate in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong, located on reclaimed land near the Tuen Mun River, at the junction of Pui To Road and Tuen Mun Heung Sze Wui Road. It consisted of four residential blocks completed in 1971, offering 2,131 flats with more than 6,000 residents. It was the smallest rental estate in Tuen Mun. History Tuen Mun New Town project was then known as Castle Peak New Town and thus the estate was originally named Castle Peak Estate (). After the Hong Kong Government renamed Castle Peak to Tuen Mun in 1974, the estate was renamed San Fat Estate in honour of Chan Yat-sen and Lau Wong-fat, prominent figures in Heung Yee Kuk.
