Hasan Tahsin
Hasan Tahsin was the code name of Osman Nevres (1888 – 15 May 1919), a Turkish nationalist, patriot, and journalist of Dönmeh descent. Hailed as a Turkish war hero, his name has been given by the Turkish Armed Forces to the Information Center of the Turkish General Staff (Genelkurmay İletişim Başkanlığı'nın Hasan Tahsin Bilgi Merkezi). A member of the Ottoman Special Organization, he unsuccessfully tried to assassinate Noel and Charles Roden Buxton in Romania during World War I. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for the attempt but released when German forces overran Romania. He opened fire on the Greek soldiers who landed at Smyrna (present day İzmir) on 15 May 1919 in the opening act of the Greek occupation of more than three years that extended over a large part of western Anatolia, as well as of the Greco-Turkish War. Qudsia Tahseen (born 15 December 1964) is a Professor of Zoology at Aligarh Muslim University and teaches Animal Ecology as well as Nematology to the students of the Masters programme. Her areas of research include taxonomy and developmental biology of terrestrial and aquatic nematodes. Meryem Muazzez Tahsin ( – 4 October 1984) was a Turkish female writer. After the Surname Law in 1934, she assumed the surname Berkand. Life She was born to Hasan Tahsin and his wife Ayşe in Thessaloniki, Greece, then a part of the Ottoman Empire. There is no consensus on her birth year as 1894 or 1900. Hazim Tahsin Beg (born 1 May 1963 in Ba'adre) is the current and official Mir (Prince) of the Yezidis since July 27, 2019. Mir Hazim is the son and successor of Tahseen Beg, who after ruling Yezidis for 75 years, died at the age of 85. Hasan Tahsin Uzer (27 August 1878 – 5 December 1939; surnamed Uzer after 1934) was an Ottoman and later Turkish bureaucrat and politician. Throughout his career as a politician, Tahsin served as a governor to several Ottoman cities including Aydın, Erzurum, Van and the province of Syria. Thereafter, he served as deputy to the cities of Ardahan, Erzurum, and Konya. During the Armenian genocide, he was complicit in the Kemah massacres. Hasan Tahsin Pasha (1845–1918), also known as Hasan Tahsin Mesarea, was a senior Ottoman Turkish military officer, who served in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897, and in the First Balkan War. Hasan Tahsin Mayatepek was a Turkish diplomat. He got his surname from his position as Turkish ambassador in Mexico (31 March 1935 – 7 March 1938) where he concluded that the Mayan word for 'hill' () was the same word as in Turkish (''tepe'').
