Tahmasb Mazaheri
Tahmasb Mazaheri () is an Iranian politician who served as the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance between 2001 and 2004, and then held office as the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran from 2007 to 2008. Career Mazaheri was appointed minister of finance to the cabinet of Mohammad Khatami in 2001. He replaced Hossein Namazi in the post. Mazaheri's term ended in April 2004 and he was succeeded by Safdar Hosseini. Mazaheri was the governor of the Central Bank of Iran from September 2007 to September 2008. He was the shortest serving governor of Central Bank since its establishment. He was a candidate in the 2013 presidential election. His nomination was rejected. Governor Of The Central Bank Of Iran
Governor of the Central Bank of Iran () is the highest administrative authority of the Central Bank of Iran, making decisions concerning all such current affairs of the bank. Presently, the President appoints the governor upon the recommendation of the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, who must be verified by the CBI's general assembly. Unlike many countries, the governor of central bank is not mandated to decide on the monetary policy in Iran by himself, but he is head of the body with that responsibility, The Currency and Credit Council, an organ within the central bank but controlled by the government. Hossein Samsami Mazra'eh Akhound (born 1967 in Najaf) is an Iranian politician and institutionalist economist, an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at Shahid Beheshti University and a representative of the 12th term of the Islamic Consultative Assembly from Tehran, Rey, Shemiranat, Eslamshahr and Pardis constituencies. In 2008, he was the interim head of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance for a while, but he was not nominated to the parliament for the ministry. In 2019, he was appointed to the position of the deputy chairman of the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation. Presidential elections were held in Iran on 14 June 2013. Hassan Rouhani was elected in the first round with over 50% of the vote.
