Tahl Leibovitz
Tahl Leibovitz (born June 1, 1975) is an American para table tennis player who has played in five Paralympic Games. His highest ranking is world no.2 in class 9 in July 2008 and is now currently ranked world no.3 in that class and world no.17 in men's standing classes. Biography Leibovitz was born in New York City to parents who struggled with substance abuse and mental illness. He was kicked out of his home and lived on the streets. He graduated in New York University and now works in New York City as a social worker. Sporting career He first competed in his first Paralympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 where he won his first gold medal. Para Table Tennis
Para table tennis is a parasports which follows the rules set by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The usual table tennis rules are in effect with slight modifications for wheelchair athletes. Athletes from disability groups can take part. Athletes receive classifications between 1-11. Classes 1-5 are for those in wheelchairs and classes 6-10 for those who have disabilities that allow them to play standing. Within those groups, the higher classification means the more function the athlete has. Class 11 is defined for players with an intellectual disability. The , branded as the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, was an international multi-sport parasports event held from 24 August to 5 September 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. They were the 16th Summer Paralympic Games as organized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Originally scheduled to take place from 25 August to 6 September 2020, both the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics were postponed by a year in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the rescheduled Games still referred to as ''Tokyo 2020'' for marketing and branding purposes.
