Tahara Castle
is a Japanese castle located in Tahara, Aichi, Tahara, southern Aichi Prefecture, Japan. At the end of the Edo period, Tahara Castle was home to the Miyake clan, ''daimyō'' of the 12,000 ''koku'' Tahara Domain. History Tahara Castle is located on a small hill in the city of Tahara, near the root of the Atsumi Peninsula extending into Mikawa Bay. The location was formerly surrounded by inlets, which enhanced its defensive position, and its ability to extend control over shipping in the area. In 1480, Toda Munemitsu (1439–1508), virtually independent warlord of the Atsumi Peninsula during the Sengoku Period, erected the predecessor of Tahara Castle. was a minor ''fudai'' Japanese Han system, domain under the Tokugawa shogunate of Edo period Japan, located in southern Mikawa Province (modern-day southeastern Aichi Prefecture), Japan. It was centered on Tahara Castle in what is now the city of Tahara, Aichi, Tahara. History Most of the Atsumi Peninsula was controlled by the Toda clan during the Muromachi period, Muromachi and Sengoku periods. The Toda pledged loyalty to the Imagawa clan, but later came under the rule of the Tokugawa clan. Following the Siege of Odawara (1590), Battle of Odawara in 1590, Toyotomi Hideyoshi assigned the Kantō region to Tokugawa Ieyasu and the Toda were dispossessed of their holdings, which were given to Hideyoshi's vassal, Ikeda Terumasa. was a Japanese photographer. Life and career Tahara was born in Kyoto. He learned photographic techniques at an early age from his grandfather, a professional photographer. In 1972, he travelled Europe with Red Buddha Theatre as a lighting and visual technician. While in France, he encountered a sharp, harsh and piercing light that he had never experienced in Japan. Since then, he remained in Paris for next 30 years and started his career as a photographer. His first series of work “Ville (City)” (1973–1976) captured the unique light in Paris in black-and-white photography. Soichiro Tahara
is a Japanese political journalist, best known for hosting TV Asahi's '' Sunday Project'' program. Career The turning point in Tahara's life came in the summer of 1945. Up until then, he had been taught that Japan was fighting a just war. However, when he returned to school after summer vacation, his teacher started saying the exact opposite: "Japan fought a war of aggression that it should never have fought." This made him question everything he had been taught up to that point. "What was all that I had been taught until now? I can’t trust my teachers, the newspapers, or the radio." This experience became the impetus for him to pursue a career in journalism. Tahara attended Waseda University and began his career at Iwanami Productions, a documentary film production company.
