Taddeo Alderotti
Taddeo Alderotti (Latin: Thaddaeus Alderottus, French : Thaddée de Florence), born in Florence between 1206 and 1215, died in 1295, was an Italian doctor and professor of medicine at the University of Bologna, who made important contributions to the renaissance of learned medicine in Europe during the High Middle Ages. He was among the first to organize a medical lecture at the university. One of his works describes a method for concentrating ethanol involving repeated fractional distillation through a water-cooled still, by which an ethanol purity of 90% could be obtained. Dante seems to reference him in the Paradiso (XII, 82-85), indicating he pursued learning not for spiritual reasons but worldly ambition, contrasting him with St. Dominic. Taddeo Luigi dal Verme (1641–1717) was a Roman Catholic cardinal. Biography He was born in Piacenza on 16 February 1641 and was baptized the following day. He was the son of Giovanni Maria Dal Verme, count of Sanguinetto, and of Ottavia Meli-Lupi, marquise of Soragna. He was also the nephew of Cardinal Savo Millini and was related to cardinals Girolamo Farnese and Mario Alberizzi. After attending La Sapienza University of Rome, he obtained his doctorate in in utroque iure on 26 January 1688. He was already receiving the tonsure in 1650 when he was just nine years old, and he had renounced his birthright in 1664 with the intention of becoming a priest. He went to Rome that same year and accompanied Mario Alberizzi, apostolic nuncio to Vienna, as secretary. Ordained a priest, he became prefect of the episcopal palace of Fano. Gianfranco de Taddeo (7 August 1928 – 29 January 2025) was a Swiss footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the 1950s. Biography De Taddeo first played for La Chaux-de-Fonds in the 1949–50 Nationalliga A season. He then played three seasons for BSC Young Boys. He then joined Basel's first team for their 1953–54 season under player-coach René Bader. After playing in seven test games, de Taddeo played his domestic league debut for his new club in the away game on 21 March 1953 as Basel were defeated 2–1 by Grenchen. In that one season that he was with the club, de Taddeo played a total of 13 games for Basel. Five of these games were in the Nationalliga A and eight were friendly games. Following his season with Basel, de Taddeo moved on to play two seasons for Cantonal Neuchatel. Taddeo Zuccaro (or Zuccari) (1 September 15292 September 1566) was an Italian painter, one of the most popular members of the Roman mannerist school. Biography Zuccaro was born in Sant'Angelo in Vado, near Urbino, the son of Ottaviano Zuccaro, an almost unknown painter. His brother Federico, born around 1540, was also a painter and architect. As a young man Taddeo was to be encouraged by Pompeo da Fano. Zuccaro moved to Rome by age 14, and mainly trained himself by copying earlier masters. He succeeded at an early age in gaining a knowledge of painting and in finding patrons to employ him.The principal formative influences on him were the façade decorations of Polidoro da Caravaggio. Taddeo Orlando (23 June 1885 – 1 September 1950) was an Italian general who served in the Italo-Turkish War, World War I, and World War II. Biography Orlando was born in Gaeta on June 23, 1885. He attended the Military College of the Nunziatella in Naples and then the Royal Military Academy of Artillery and Engineers in Turin. He graduated as Second Lieutenant in 1906 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1908, and took part in the Italo-Turkish War (1911–1912), where he distinguished himself and was decorated with a Bronze Medal of Military Valour. He then attended the Army School of War from 1912 to 1914 and later participated in World War I serving first in an artillery battery and later in the General Staff. Taddeo Manfredi (1431 – c. 1486) was Lord of Imola from 1448 until 1473. As a condottiere (mercenary leader), he was commander in the Florentine (1443–1448 and 1452) and Neapolitan (1448–1452) armies. After inheriting the seigniory of Imola after the death of his father, Guidantonio Manfredi, he struggled long with his uncle Astorre II Manfredi, who held Faenza. The two reconciled in 1463, but the war resumed four years later. In 1467, after having been besieged in Imola by Alessandro and Costanzo Sforza, he fought in the Battle of Molinella. In 1471, his son Guidoriccio rebelled against him, and Manfredi was imprisoned under the authority of the Milanese general Roberto da Sanseverino. Taddeo Landini (c. 1561 – March 13, 1596) was an Italian sculptor and architect of the Mannerist period, active mainly in his native Florence and after 1580, in Rome. Biography His initial training was in Tuscany, and to Rome, he brought the decorative style of Florentine fountains. In Florence, in the early 1580s, he sculpted a copy of Michelangelo's ''Risen Christ'' for the church of Santo Spirito. He was also called to sculpt the statue of ''Winter'', a man shivering, on the Ponte Santa Trinita over the river Arno. The bridge was designed by Ammanati. The other three seasons were completed by either Caccini and Francavilla. Moving to Rome, he completed the relief of ''Christ washing the Feet of the Disciples'' and a triton for the fountains in Piazza Navona.
