Tachiarai Army Airfield is a former Imperial Japanese Army aviation base located in the town of Chikuzen, Fukuoka, Chikuzen, Fukuoka, Japan. History Tachiarai Army Airfield was completed in October 1919 by the Japanese Army, and was subsequently used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service (IJAAF). From 1929 to 1936, it served commercial aircraft. By 1937, the military facilities that operated in the airfield were expanded. Additional facilities included the headquarters of the flying units, aircraft manufacturing plants, and military engineering schools, totaling to 3.94 million square meters of land. Chiran Airfield is an abandoned military airfield located in Chiran, Minamikyūshū, on the Satsuma Peninsula of Kagoshima, Japan. Tachiarai Peace Memorial Museum
The is a historical museum located in the town of Chikuzen, Fukuoka, Japan. Overview The Imperial Japanese Army Air Service operated the Tachiarai Army Airfield, which was completed in October 1919. The area between the towns of Chikuzen and Tachiarai ¥ was chosen because it would serve as a relay point for air groups heading for mainland China, and because it was far from the coast and would not be affected by naval gunfire from enemy fleets. The airfield was also used for commercial aircraft from 1929 to 1936.
