Tab Townsell is the former executive director of Metroplan and former Mayor of Conway, Arkansas for 18 years. Personal life and education Townsell graduated from Conway High School in 1979. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1984, with a major in political science and a minor in economics. Townsell earned an MBA from Texas Christian University in 1986. Career Townsell worked as an intern for Senator Dale Bumpers, and served on Conway's Transportation Advisory Committee and the Conway Planning Commission prior to becoming mayor. Townsell worked in construction, first for Townsell-Hill Construction and then as a co-owner of Concrete Forming. Townsell was re-elected in 2012 to a fifth term, but has announced that he won't seek a sixth term. University Of Central Arkansas
The University of Central Arkansas (Central Arkansas or UCA) is a public university in Conway, Arkansas, United States. Founded in 1907, the university is one of the oldest in the state. As the state's only normal school at the time, UCA has historically been the primary source of teachers in Arkansas. It was one of about 180 " normal schools" founded by state governments to train teachers for the rapidly growing public common schools. The university comprises five colleges, five residential colleges and one commuter college. Conway High School is a comprehensive education, comprehensive public school in Conway, Arkansas, Secondary education in the United States, United States. Conway High School serves over 2,000 students and is administered by the Conway School District (Arkansas), Conway School District. The school has been nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and has won 50 state championships in numerous interscholastic sports. Dale Bumpers
Dale Leon Bumpers (August 12, 1925 – January 1, 2016) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 38th Governor of Arkansas (1971–1975) and in the United States Senate (1975–1999). He was a member of the Democratic Party. He was counsel at the Washington office of law firm Arent Fox LLP, where his clients included Riceland Foods and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Background Bumpers was born August 12, 1925, in Charleston in Franklin County, in west central Arkansas, near the larger city of Fort Smith, the son of William Rufus Bumpers, who served in the Arkansas House of Representatives in the early 1930s, and the former Lattie Jones (1889–1949).
