Taal Basilica
The Minor Basilica and Parish of Saint Martin of Tours, commonly known as Taal Basilica, is a minor basilica in the Municipalities of the Philippines, town of Taal, Batangas, within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lipa, Archdiocese of Lipa. It is considered to be the largest church (building), church building in the Philippines and in Asia, and the largest Augustinian church, standing long and wide. Martin of Tours is the patron saint of Taal, whose feast is celebrated every November 11. Taal Lake (, ), formerly known as Bombón Lake, is a fresh water Volcanic crater lake, caldera lake in the Provinces of the Philippines, province of Batangas, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The lake fills Taal Volcano, a large volcanic caldera formed by very large volcanic eruption, eruptions between 500,000 and 100,000 years ago. Taysan, officially the Municipality of Taysan (), is a municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 40,146 people. Tingloy
Tingloy, officially the Municipality of Tingloy (), is a municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 19,215 people, making it the least populated municipality in the province. History The name "Tingloy" was, according to legend, derived from a plant of almost the same name, "tinghoy", which is largely found in abundance on the island up to now. The first people to inhabit the island almost a century ago came from Taal and Bauan, presumably to escape the brutalities perpetrated by the Spanish "conquistadors". 2017 Batangas Earthquake
The 2017 Batangas earthquakes were an earthquake swarm that occurred from early April to mid-August 2017, affecting the province of Batangas in the Philippines and other nearby areas. The first major earthquake occurred on April 4 at 8:58pm Philippine Standard Time, with a surface-wave magnitude of 5.5 off the coast of Batangas. According to the PHIVOLCS earthquake intensity scale, the earthquake had an intensity of VII (Very Strong). On April 8, stronger earthquakes occurred in the province. The PHIVOLCS recorded the strongest earthquake later that afternoon that had a surface wave magnitude of 6.0. Another earthquake struck on August 11, with a surface wave magnitude of 6.3.
