TW1 (Austria)
TW1 (Tourismus und Wetter 1 ''(Tourism and Weather 1)'') was an Austrian digital television channel, broadcasting programmes about news, culture, leisure, travel and weather. It was owned by the Austrian national broadcaster, Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF). TW1 was replaced by the ORF III on 26 October 2011. Programming TW1 broadcast a variety of programmes, which usually followed current events not just in Austria but also the rest of continental Europe. These included interviews with politicians and debate shows, live weather information, which was provided through web cams located all over Austria, travel shows, up to date travel information also via web cams ( ASFINAG) and shows of cultural interest. ORF III (''ORF drei'', ''Österreichischer Rundfunk 3''), sometimes called ORF 3 is an Austrian television channel owned by the Austrian national broadcaster, Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF). The channel launched on 26 October 2011 at 14:00 CEST, and replaced TW1. ORF III took over the frequencies on satellite and cable from TW1, which specialised in tourism and weather. ORF III also launched on digital terrestrial television in Austria, and since 2017 is available in encrypted form on the Austrian DVB-T2 platform . ORF Sport Plus
ORF Sport + is an Austrian sports channel owned by the public service broadcaster, ORF. The channel is available via satellite Astra 1KR, on 19.2°E, cable and DVB-T, in Austria and parts of Europe. History Before the launch of ORF Sport Plus on 1 May 2006, TW1 provided sports programming since May 2000 up until the launch of ORF Sport Plus. On 22 October 2007, ORF Sport Plus was made available to DVB-T, only in the state capitals of Austria. Since that date, TW1 was available only on cable and satellite. On July 15, 2009, ORF Information Director Elmar Oberhauser announced that the channel would be discontinued in 2010 for cost reasons. Gaisberg Transmitter
Gaisberg Transmitter is a facility for FM and TV-transmission on the Gaisberg mountain near Salzburg, Austria. It was the first large transmitter in Austria finished after the war and started its work on 22 August 1956 (however, a provisional transmitter already broadcasting, broadcast a VHF radio signal since 1953 with 1kW). It used a lattice tower and broadcast Austria's first radio station on 99.0MHz and third radio station on 94.8 MHz, each with 50 kW, as well as a TV station on Television channel, channel 8 with 60/12 kW (picture/sound).
