TVR Cultural
TVR Cultural () is the cultural channel of Romania's government-funded television network Televiziunea Română (TVR). It provides cultural news, documentaries about the arts, as well as various shows, musicals and theatrical pieces. It was closed in September 2012 and restarted in December 2022. History TVR Cultural began transmission in 2002. It was modelled on the Franco-German TV channel Arte and other European channels focused on cultural and artistic programming. Due to a financial crisis, TVR president Claudiu Săftoiu decided to end TVR Cultural broadcasts in the summer of 2012. There was widespread criticism of this decision, which came at a time when other public broadcasters in the Central and Eastern Europe, including Polish Telewizja Polska and Czech Television, were expanding their cultural output. 1080i
In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Each of these lines contributes to the overall detail and clarity of the image. The letter "i" stands for Interlaced video, interlaced. This is a technique where the image is not displayed all at once. Instead, the frame is split into two fields. One field contains the odd-numbered lines, and the other field contains the even-numbered lines. Claudiu Săftoiu
Claudiu Elwis Săftoiu (born 11 October 1968) is a Romanian journalist. From December 2004 to October 2006, he was an adviser to President Traian Băsescu on matters of domestic policy; subsequently, until March 2007, he directed the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE). He headed Romanian Television from July 2012 to December 2013. He was married to former presidential adviser and member of the Chamber of Deputies Adriana Săftoiu for eighteen years until their divorce in 2011; they have one child. TVP Kultura
TVP Kultura is the first TV theme channel to be run by the Polish public broadcaster TVP. It was launched on 24 April 2005 and is dedicated to arts and culture. Mezzo TV
Mezzo is a French television channel, broadcasting classical music (including opera and ballet), jazz and world music. It was formed in 1992 and was called France Supervision until 1998. In 2010 it added a sister channel, Mezzo Live HD. In January 2008 it introduced a new filler feature, '' Divertimezzo'', renamed ''Intermezzo'' in 2011, consisting of video clips fashioned from its programmes, with the usual wide range of music. Victor Ion Popa (; July 29, 1895 – March 30, 1946) was a Romania, Romanian dramatist. Biography He was born in Bârlad, the first of three children of Ion Popa and Aspasia, née Pavelescu. He went to primary school in Călmățui, a village in the Grivița, Galați, Grivița commune, in the former Tutova County, where his father was a schoolteacher. The Romanian National Opera, Bucharest () is the oldest of the four national opera and ballet companies of Romania. The company was founded in 1885 and is headquartered in Bucharest, near the Cotroceni neighbourhood. Great Union Day (; also called Unification Day or National Day) is a Romanian national holiday celebrated on 1 December to mark the 1918 Great Union (the unification of Transylvania, Bassarabia, and Bukovina with the Kingdom of Romania).
