Channel 8 (Israel)
Channel 8 (Branded as HOT8; formerly known as the "Science Channel" ערוץ המדע and the "Culture, Science and Nature Channel" "ערוץ תרבות, מדע וטבע") is an Israeli television channel operated by the cable television company HOT. The channel commenced broadcasting in April 1992 and their content was initially produced by I.C.P (The Cable Content Company). From 1996 to 2012, production was managed by Noga Communications, after ICP was forced to withdraw the direct control of channels 5, 6 and 8. Since the end of December 2012, the channel's content has been produced by Slutsky Afiki Communication (סלוצקי אפיקי תקשורת). ''UHF'' (released internationally as ''The Vidiot from UHF'') is a 1989 American comedy film starring "Weird Al" Yankovic, David Bowe, Fran Drescher, Victoria Jackson, Kevin McCarthy, Michael Richards, Stanley Brock, Gedde Watanabe, Billy Barty, Anthony Geary, Emo Philips and Trinidad Silva in his final film role; as Silva died before filming wrapped, the film is dedicated to his memory. CANAL8 Sport was a Danish television channel owned by TV4 Group and C More Entertainment. The channel was announced on July 3, 2012. The channel replaced Canal+ Sport 1 in Denmark. The reason for this is that after Canal+ lost the rights to the Premier League in 2010, they have a hard time keeping the subscribers in Denmark to their premium sports package. And thus it was decided to move the most popular sport with Danish viewer interest from a high pay channel to an advertising financing low pay channel. the channel is first of all a football channel and show matches from Danish Superliga, UEFA Europa League, La Liga, Serie A and Eredivisie and other sports like UFC fighting, ATP Tennis, Indycar Racing and Swedish Hockey League.
