Turning Point USA (TPUSA), or Turning Point, is an American nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses. It was founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk and Bill Montgomery. TPUSA's sister organizations include Turning Point Endowment, Turning Point Action, Students for Trump, and Turning Point Faith. TPUSA has been described as the fastest growing organization of campus chapters in America, and according to ''The Chronicle of Higher Education'', TPUSA "is now the dominant force in campus conservatism". TPUSA has been involved in multiple controversies, including allegations of racism and criticism from other conservatives groups and figures. Charlie Kirk (activist)
Charles J. Kirk (born October 14, 1993) is an American conservative activist and radio talk show host. He founded Turning Point USA with Bill Montgomery in 2012, and has served as its executive director since. He is the CEO of Turning Point Action, Students for Trump, and Turning Point Academy, Turning Point Faith, president of Turning Point Endowment, and a member of the Council for National Policy. Kirk has authored four books. Early life and education Kirk was born in the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and raised in nearby Prospect Heights, Illinois. Students for Trump (S4T) is an American group whose mission was to elect President Donald Trump. The group was founded in 2015 by two college students, Ryan Fournier and John Lambert. Bill Montgomery (activist)
William Thomas Montgomery (May 29, 1940 – July 28, 2020) was an American businessman and conservative activist. He co-founded the conservative political organization Turning Point USA with Charlie Kirk; Montgomery became Kirk's mentor and worked mostly behind the scenes in Turning Point's early years. Early life Montgomery was born on May 29, 1940, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and grew up in Peoria, Illinois. He served in the United States Air Force Reserve. Career and activism Montgomery spent his working career in marketing. After retiring, he founded Turning Point USA with Charlie Kirk in 2012. Foster Stephen Friess (April 2, 1940 – May 27, 2021) was an American investment manager and prominent donor to the Republican Party and to Christian right causes.
