''Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'' (), often abbreviated as ''TMKOC'', is an Indian sitcom and Indian comedy based on the weekly column ''Duniya Ne Undha Chasma'' by Tarak Mehta for the magazine '' Chitralekha''. Produced by Asit Kumarr Modi, it is one of the longest-running television series in India. The series premiered on 28 July 2008 on Sony SAB and is also digitally available on SonyLIV. The series has garnered national attention and has developed a substantial following over the years and regarded as a cult classic. Plot The series is set in the city of Mumbai and revolves around the lives of the residents of Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society, who hail from different cultural and regional backgrounds. Tipendra Jethalal Gada
Tipendra Jethalal Gada also known as Tapu, is a fictional character from the television series ''Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah''. He is a college student and is the leader of "Tapu Sena". Tapu lives in the society with his mother Daya, father Jethalal and grandfather Champaklal Gada. The character was created by Asit Kumarr Modi and originally portrayed by Bhavya Gandhi. Development Bhavya Gandhi was selected as Tapu by Asit Kumarr Modi, after he auditioned around 400-500 kids. Gandhi's cricket skills helped him land the role. Gandhi played Tapu from 2008 to 2017, for 9 years. Raj Anadkat played Tapu from 2017 to 2022, for 5 years. Since 2023, Tapu is played by Nitish Bhaluni. Shailesh Lodha (born 8 November 1969) is an Indian poet, actor and writer. He is best known for portraying Taarak Mehta in the longest running Hindi sitcom ''Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah''. Personal life Lodha was born in Jodhpur in a Marwari family. Lodha is married to a management author, Swati Lodha, and has a daughter Swara. Since his father had a transferable job , Lodha travelled a lot. His mother loved reading and had a good vocabulary in Hindi. At the age of nine, Lodha was nicknamed "Baal Kavi". He had an office job, but he left it to follow his passion, i.e. writing poems. In a 2015 interview Lodha said, "I am half Jain". Lodha has completed B.Sc.
