TF1 (; standing for ''Télévision Française 1'') is a French commercial television network owned by TF1 Group, controlled by the Bouygues conglomerate. TF1's average market share of 24% makes it the most popular domestic network. TF1 is part of the TF1 Group of mass media companies, which also includes the news channel LCI. It previously owned the satellite TV provider TPS, which was sold to Canal+ Group. TF1 Group () is a French media holding company. Its best-known property is the broadcast network TF1. The group was formed after TF1 was privatized in April 1987 in which the channel was launched back on January 6 1975 twelve years prior. The TF1 Tower () is a building in the Boulogne-Billancourt suburb of Paris, used as the headquarters of the French TV channel TF1 and several subsidiaries of the TF1 Group since 1992. TFX (TV Channel)
TFX (formerly NT1) is a French free television network operated by Groupe TF1, targeting younger audiences. History NT1 was proposed in 2002 by AB Groupe for a frequency in the DTT, as a generalist channel inspired by its elders RTL9 and AB1. It was selected on June 10, 2003, for the launch of the TNT platform scheduled for March 2005. In late 2004, AB Groupe announced their intention to call the channel La Quatre (The Four). However, in January 2005, France Télévisions announced that they would rebrand their channel Festival as France 4. AB Groupe decided to revert to the NT1 name.
