T20 Blast
The T20 Blast, currently named the Vitality Blast for sponsorship reasons, is a professional Twenty20 cricket competition for County cricket#First-class counties, English and Welsh first-class counties. The competition was established by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003. It is the top-level Twenty20 competition in England and Wales. The competition has been known by a variety of names due to commercial sponsorship. It was known as the Twenty20 Cup from 2003 to 2009, the Friends Provident t20 and Friends Life t20 from 2010 to 2013, and the Natwest t20 Blast from 2014 to 2017. The competition has been sponsored by insurance company VitalityHealth, Vitality since 2018 and is known as the Vitality Blast. England And Wales Cricket Board
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the national governing body of cricket in England and Wales. It was formed on 1 January 1997 as a single governing body to combine the roles formerly fulfilled by the Test and County Cricket Board, the National Cricket Association and the Cricket Council. The 2022 Vitality Blast was the 2022 season of the T20 Blast, a professional Twenty20 cricket league played in England and Wales. The tournament was held from 25 May to 16 July 2022. It was the fifth season in which the domestic T20 competition, run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), was branded as the Vitality Blast due to the tournament's sponsorship reason. The 2021 Vitality Blast was the 2021 season of the T20 Blast, a professional Twenty20 cricket league played in England and Wales. It was the fourth season in which the domestic T20 competition, run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), that was branded as the Vitality Blast due to the tournament's sponsorship deal. The Notts Outlaws were the defending champions. In June 2021, Samit Patel, playing for the Notts Outlaws, became the first English player to do the double in T20 cricket of taking 250 wickets and scoring 5,000 runs. In July 2021, Derbyshire's match against Essex in the 2021 County Championship was abandoned before the start of day two due to a positive COVID-19 case in the squad. The 2016 NatWest T20 Blast is the third season of the domestic T20 competition, run by the ECB, branded as the NatWest t20 Blast. The league consists of the 18 first-class county teams divided into two divisions of nine teams each with fixtures played between May and August. The final took place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on 20 August 2016. Competition format 18 teams competed for the T20 title. Teams were initially split into 2 divisions (North and South), each containing 9 teams, for the group stage of the competition. During the group stage (from May to July) each club plays 6 of the other teams in the same division twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents. The 2013 Twenty20 Cup (known for sponsorship reasons as the Friends Life t20) was the fourth season of the Friends Life t20 Twenty20 English cricket competition. The competition ran from 26 June to 17 August 2013. The teams and format of the tournament remained the same as the previous season. Northamptonshire Steelbacks were champions, defeating Surrey in the final to win their first limited overs trophy since 1992. Format The 18 teams were divided into three groups of six and each group played a double round-robin tournament. The top two teams from each group and the top two third-placed teams qualified for the knockout stage: a three-round single-elimination tournament.
