2016 T20 Blast
The 2016 NatWest T20 Blast was the fourteenth edition of the T20 Blast, the domestic T20 competition run by the ECB. The league consisted of the 18 first-class county teams divided into two divisions of nine teams each with fixtures played between May and August. The final took place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on 20 August 2016. Competition format 18 teams competed for the T20 title. Teams were initially split into 2 divisions (North and South), each containing 9 teams, for the group stage of the competition. During the group stage (from May to July) each club plays 6 of the other teams in the same division twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents. They play the other two teams only once, for a total of 14 games each. Teams receive two points for a win and one point for a tie or if the match is abandoned. No points are awarded for a loss. The England and Wales Cricket Board, aka ECB, is the Sports governing body, national governing body of cricket in England and Wales. Worcestershire County Cricket Club
Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Worcestershire. Its Vitality Blast T20 team has been rebranded the Worcestershire Rapids, but the county is known by most fans as 'the Pears'. The club is based at New Road, Worcester. Founded in 1865, Worcestershire held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship in the 1890s, winning the competition three times. Not Out
In cricket, a batsman is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batsman is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with, so the innings ends. Usually, two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Umar Akmal
Umar Akmal (Urdu, ; born 26 May 1990) is a Pakistani cricketer who played for Pakistan national cricket team between 2009 and 2019. He was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board for eighteen months for not disclosing offers related to spot fixing until August 2021. Barry John McCarthy (born 13 September 1992) is an Irish cricketer. He made his first-class debut in 2015, and plays for the Ireland cricket team, and previously the English side Durham. Primarily a right-arm medium pace bowler, he also bats right handed. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis. Jeff Evans (umpire)
Jeffrey Howard Evans (7 August 1954 – 20 April 2025) was a Welsh cricket umpire who stood in over 200 first-class and List A matches after being named to the ECB Umpires List in 1999. He stood in over 100 Twenty20 matches since the inception of the format in 2003. Evans also officiated in four Women's ODIs between 2002 and 2014, as well as the match between India Women and New Zealand Women in the Women's T20 Quadrangular Series in England in 2011. Paul Baldwin
Paul Kerr Baldwin (born 18 July 1973) is an English cricket umpire. He was born in Epsom in Surrey. Baldwin started umpiring in 2000 and was appointed to the ICC Associates and Affiliates International Umpires Panel in 2005. He made his ODI umpiring debut on 5 August 2006, in a match between Scotland and Ireland. From 2006 to 2010, Baldwin officiated in 18 ODIs and 9 International T20s. Visit Worcestershire New Road is a cricket ground in the English city of Worcester. The home of Worcestershire County Cricket Club since 1896, it has been rated as one of the world's most beautiful cricket grounds. Joseph Leach (born 30 October 1990) is a former English cricketer who played for Worcestershire. Leach was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium. He was born in Stafford, Staffordshire, and was educated at Shrewsbury School. Career Leach made his debut for Staffordshire against Buckinghamshire in the 2008 Minor Counties Championship. Philip Mustard (born 8 October 1982) is an English cricketer. Background Mustard was educated at Usworth Comprehensive, and is a keen football fan who played at Manchester United until aged 13, and then Middlesbrough FC until aged 15, and he continues to play during the winter months. Domestic career Mustard played for Durham and subsequently Gloucestershire, and also represented England. Mustard is a left-handed batsman and wicketkeeper, with a style likened to that of Australia's Adam Gilchrist. Scott George Borthwick (born 19 April 1990) is an English cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and leg-break bowler who captains Durham. He was born in Sunderland.
