T. Maheswaran
Thiyagarajah Maheswaran () (10 January 1966 – 1 January 2008) was a Tamil Sri Lankan Member of Parliament (MP) from Colombo. He belonged to the main opposition United National Party and was a critic of Mahinda Rajapakse government's war against Tamil rebels. A former Hindu Affairs minister and a former Member of Parliament for Colombo District, he escaped an assassination attempt on the final day of the 2004 election campaign in Colombo. He was assassinated by a gunman on 1 January 2008 while worshipping at a Hindu temple with his family. Early life and education T. Maheswaran was born on 10 January 1966 in Karainagar, Jaffna. Expulsion Of Non-resident Tamils From Colombo
The expulsion of non-resident Tamils from Colombo was an incident which took place on June 7, 2007, when 376 ethnic Tamils living in Colombo, Sri Lanka were deported from the city by the Sri Lankan Police. The evicted were sent back to Jaffna, Vavuniya, Trincomalee and Batticaloa, where they were originally from, in several buses with a police escort. However, the buses only went as far as the town of Vavuniya and the evicted Tamils were forced to stay in a detention camp. Jaffna Peninsula
The Jaffna Peninsula (, or ) is a region in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It is home to the capital city of the province, Jaffna, and comprises much of the former land mass of the medieval Jaffna Kingdom. Nadarajah Raviraj
Nadarajah Raviraj (, ; 25 June 1962 – 10 November 2006) was a Sri Lankan lawyer and politician who served as Mayor of Jaffna in 2001 and a Member of Parliament for Jaffna District from 2001 to 2006. A member of the Tamil National Alliance, he was shot dead on 10 November 2006 in Colombo. Early life and family Nadarajah Raviraj was born 25 June 1962. His family were from Chavakachcheri in northern Ceylon. Both of his parents were teachers – his father taught at Chavakachcheri Hindu College and his mother taught at Chavakachcheri Hindu Ladies College. Joseph Pararajasingham
Joseph Pararajasingham (; 26 November 1934 – 25 December 2005) was a Sri Lankan Tamil civil servant, journalist, businessman and politician. He was Member of Parliament for Batticaloa District from 1990 to 2004 and a National List Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2005. A member of the Tamil National Alliance, he was shot dead on Christmas Day 2005 as he attended midnight mass at St. Mary's Cathedral, Batticaloa.
