T. J. Lane
On the morning of February 27, 2012, six students were shot at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, three of which were killed. Witnesses said that the shooter had a personal rivalry with one of his victims. Two other wounded students were also hospitalized, one of whom sustained several serious injuries that have resulted in permanent paralysis. The fifth student suffered a minor injury, and the sixth a superficial wound. By the evening of February 27, authorities confirmed that the suspect was Thomas Michael "T. J." Lane III, a 17-year-old male juvenile and former student of Chardon, who was a sophomore at Lake Academy Alternative School and used a bus in common with several victims. Lane used a .22 caliber handgun. Lane was soon arrested by police near his car parked outside the school. Chardon High School
Chardon High School (commonly Chardon, Chardon High, or CHS), is a public high school in Chardon, Ohio, United States, serving students in educational stages, grades eighth grade, 8–twelfth grade, 12. The school is part of the Chardon Local School District, with admission based primarily on the location of students' homes. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,159 students and 54.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 21.46. Academics In US News & World Report's 2022 ranking of best high schools, Chardon ranked 97th among Ohio high schools. As of 2021, the school had a graduation rate of 97.8% with about 230 students graduating.
