Transhumance
Transhumance is a type of pastoralism or Nomad, nomadism, a seasonal movement of livestock between fixed summer and winter pastures. In montane regions (''vertical transhumance''), it implies movement between higher pastures in summer and lower valleys in winter. Herders have a permanent home, typically in valleys. Generally only the herds travel, with a certain number of people necessary to tend them, while the main population stays at the base. In contrast, movement in plains or plateaus ''(horizontal transhumance)'' is more susceptible to disruption by climatic, economic, or political change. Traditional or fixed transhumance has occurred throughout the inhabited world, particularly Europe and western Asia. It is often important to pastoralist societies, as the dairy products of transhumance flocks and herds (milk, butter, yogurt and cheese) may form much of the diet of such populations. Arne Sæter
Arne Sæter (21 August 1913 in Surnadal Municipality – 14 September 1973) was a Norwegian politician for the Christian Democratic Party. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Møre og Romsdal in 1969. Shortly before the end of his term, he died and was replaced by Sverre Moen. On the local level he was a member of the municipal council of Rindal Municipality from 1959 to 1971, serving as mayor from 1963 to 1967. From 1963 to 1967 he was also a member of Møre og Romsdal county council. Outside politics he graduated as cand.theol. Candidate ( or ) is the name of various academic degrees, which are today mainly awarded in Scandinavia. Einar Sæter
Einar Sæter (6 December 1917 – 10 November 2010) was a Norwegian triple jumper, resistance member, newspaper editor and writer. Nazi resistance efforts Sæter was born in Øksendal Municipality. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he was a member of XU, a resistance organization. XU was an intelligence organization which focused on collecting static information about the German occupants. Reports were brought by couriers to the Norwegian legation in Stockholm. Sæter worked as courier for XU. He operated a direct route from Nordmøre to Sweden, via Tydal Municipality and Essandsjøen over to Endalsstugane and Blåhammarstugan in Sweden. Career Sæter won the silver medal in triple jump at the Norwegian athletics championships in 1946, representing Torshaug IF. Ingebrigt Haldorsen Sæter
Ingebrigt Haldorsen Sæter (24 June 1800 – 3 May 1875) was a Norwegian politician and farmer with connection to the ''peasant opposition'' and the democracy movement. He was Member of The Norwegian Parliament for 40 years with disruption of parliamentary sessions 1859–60 and 1862–63, as he was deputy representative. Biography Youth Sæter was born in Oppdal. He grew up in a Haugean influenced environment at the farm Bøasæter in Oppdal and went to a moving school (moving from place to place at random intervals), which offered limited learning. John Hou Sæter (born 13 January 1998), also known as Hou Yongyong () in China, is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Chinese Super League club Yunnan Yukun. Lars Sæter (13 May 1895 – 27 May 1988) was a Norwegian politician for the Christian Democratic Party. He was born in Surendal Municipality. Mordecai Seter (; February 26, 1916 – August 8, 1994), was a Russian-born Israeli composer. Early life Seter was born Marc Starominsky in Novorossiysk, Russia, in 1916 and emigrated with his family to Mandate Palestine in 1926.Encyclopaedia Judaica, Volume 14 (1972) Seter learned to play the piano from the age of seven in Russia, and continued with his lessons and studies in Tel Aviv. Olav Jørgen Sæter (26 November 1884 – 24 November 1951) was a Norwegian schoolteacher, newspaper editor and politician. Biography Sæter was born in Elverum Municipality on 26 November 1884, to farmer Oluf Sæter and Jøran Hvarstad. In 1914 he married Inga Holen (born 1887). From 1903 to 1915, and from 1933, he worked as schoolteacher in Dovre and Elverum. He edited the newspaper '' Østerdalens Sosialdemokrat'' from 1915 to 1932, and served as mayor of Elverum from 1931 to 1940. He was elected representative to the Storting for six consecutive periods.
