Sábato Magaldi
Sábato Antonio Magaldi (May 9, 1927 – July 14, 2016) was a Brazilian theater critic, playwright, journalist, teacher, essayist and historian. Biography Magaldi was born in Belo Horizonte. He graduated in the law course; however, before the age of 20, he wrote his first criticism, of a play by Jean-Paul Sartre, beginning his career as a theater critic. In 1948, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he wrote reviews for the newspaper Diário Carioca, replacing Paulo Mendes Campos as a critic. In 1953, Magaldi went to work in São Paulo, exercising his role in the newspapers O Estado de São Paulo and in Jornal da Tarde, starting in 1966. He was professor of History of the Brazilian Theater at the School of Dramatic Art at the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo. Edla Van Steen
Edla Van Steen (12 July 1936 – 6 April 2018) was a Brazilian journalist, actress and writer. The daughter of a Belgian father and a mother of German descent, she was born in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina (state), Santa Catarina and educated at a Roman Catholic Church, Catholic boarding school. Career She began work as a radio broadcaster and then became a journalist in Curitiba. In 1958, she starred in the film ''Garganta do Diabo'' (''The Devil's Throat''), winning several awards for her performance. She published a book of short stories ''Cio'' (''In Heat'') in 1965; technically it was her second collection of short stories - an earlier manuscript was lost before it could be published. Renata Pallottini or Renata Monachesi Pallottini (January 20, 1931, in São Paulo – July 8, 2021, in São Paulo) was a Brazilian playwright, essayist, poet, theater professor and translator. She was an award-winning author of poetry, plays, essays, fiction, children's literature, theater theory, and television programs who was notable in the Brazilian literary and theater scenes. In a considerable part of her production, it is possible to identify the questioning and the combat against the social values that delimitated the woman's role in society. Teatro Vivo
Teatro Vivo is a site specific theatre company formed in south London, England, in 2005 by theatre director Sophie Austin. The company has expanded from its London base and performed shows in Oxford, Berkshire, Devon and Dorset as well as maintaining a strong presence in London. Oswald De Andrade
José Oswald de Souza Andrade (January 11, 1890 – October 22, 1954) was a Brazilian poet, novelist and cultural critic. He was born in, spent most of his life in, and died in São Paulo. Andrade was one of the founders of Brazilian modernism and a member of the Group of Five, along with Mário de Andrade, Anita Malfatti, Tarsila do Amaral and Menotti del Picchia. He participated in the Modern Art Week (''Semana de Arte Moderna''). Lêdo Ivo
Lêdo Ivo (18 February 1924 – 23 December 2012) was a Brazilian poet, novelist, essayist and journalist. He was member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, elected in 1986. Biography Lêdo Ivo was born in 1924 in Maceió, capital of Alagoas state in northeastern Brazil. He settled in 1940 in Recife, where he completed his training. In 1943, he moved to Rio de Janeiro to enroll in law school, while also working for the literary supplements as a professional journalist. He married Leda Maria Sarmento Ivo de Medeiros (1923-2004), with whom he had three children. His first book was published in 1944, a collection of poems titled ''As imaginações''.
