Helen Veronica Szoke (born 9 November 1954) is the former chief executive of Oxfam Australia, and a commentator and advocate on issues of human rights, poverty, inequality, gender and race discrimination. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles across the health sector, human rights and public policy, and international development sector. Early life and study Szoke's early years were lived in South Australia, attending Tea Tree Gully Primary School, and Modbury High and Willunga High Schools. After Szoke's family moved to Tasmania, she then studied at Smithton High, Wynyard High and Burnie High Schools in Tasmania. Szoke studied at the University of Tasmania, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (politics and psychology). Katalin Szőke
Katalin Szőke (17 August 1935 – 27 October 2017) was a Hungarian swimmer. She competed at the 1952 Olympics and won two gold medals, in the 100 m and 4 × 100 m freestyle events. Two years later she repeated that success at the 1954 European Championships. She also competed in these two events at the 1956 Olympics but without success. During her career Szőke set four world records. In 1985 she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Biography Szőke was born in Budapest to Márton Homonnai, an Olympic champion in water polo in 1932 and 1936. During World War II, her father was a policeman and a member of the Arrow Cross Party, which supported the Nazis. After the war, fearing prosecution (he was sentenced to death in absentia), he flew via Germany and Brazil to Argentina, where he died in 1969. László Szőke
László Szőke (17 October 1930 – 19 March 2014) was a Hungarian footballer. Career Szőke was born in Budapest. In 1949 he moved to Italy under contract to Fanfulla before becoming a well-known name in Italian football by being transferred to first division Udinese who went on to place themselves in second position, behind the great AC Milan, in the Serie A division during the 1955–56 season. Szőke had a spell in Colombia with Atlético Junior during the 1951 season. Subsequently he transferred to Triestina and with them he won the Italian serie B championship in 1957/58. At the end of the 1960 season he was ceded to Brescia, coached at the time by another Hungarian born personage in György Sárosi, only to return to Trieste at the end of that season. Lonnie Szoke (born February 9, 1978) is a Canadian musician, songwriter and record producer, born and raised in Brantford, Ontario. Career Szoke co-founded ILLFIRE Entertainment in 2003.
