''Sirius'' (Hungarian: ''Szíriusz'') is a 1942 Hungarian science fiction film directed by Dezső Ákos Hamza and starring Katalin Karády, László Szilassy and Elemér Baló.Cunningham p.227 It is based on the 1894 novel of the same title by Ferenc Herczeg and the 1910 theatre adaptation by Imre Földes. It was shot at the Hunnia Studios in Budapest. The film's sets were designed by the art director Klára B. Kokas. It premiered at the wartime 1942 Venice Film Festival, the last held under the regime of Benito Mussolini. Imre Földes (writer)
Imre Földes, born Imre Fleischmann, also known as Emmerich Feld (15 September 1881, Kaposvár - 30 April 1958, Budapest) was a Hungarian playwright and librettist. Biography Földes originally worked as a government official in Budapest. In his spare time, he wrote historical plays in verse. His first work to receive a performance, in 1904, was ''A Király Arája'' (The King's Bride), which was presented at the National Theatre. A long series of Romantic dramas followed; three of which won awards from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Much of his audience appeal was derived from his handling of social topics. In ''A Császár Katonái'' (The Emperor's Soldiers, 1908), he depicted the anti-Hungarian attitudes that were widespread in the Austro-Hungarian Army. In ''Hivatalnok Urak'' (The Clerks, 1909), he portrays the lives of government officials who behave like the public's masters, while unable to solve their own daily problems. Ferenc Herczeg
Ferenc Herczeg (born ''Franz Herzog'', 22 September 1863 in Versec, Kingdom of Hungary, Austrian Empire – 24 February 1954 in Budapest, Hungary) was a Hungarian playwright and author who promoted conservative nationalist opinion in his country. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature three times. Career He founded and edited the magazine ''Új Idők ("New Times")'' in 1895. In 1896, he was elected to parliament, and in 1901, he became the president of the Petőfi Society. Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini (29 July 188328 April 1945) was an Italian politician and journalist who, upon assuming office as Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister, became the dictator of Fascist Italy from the March on Rome in 1922 until Fall of the Fascist regime in Italy, his overthrow in 1943.
