Miercurea Sibiului (; Transylvanian Saxon: ''Ruzmargt''; ) is a town in the west of Sibiu County, in southern Transylvania, central Romania, to the west of the county capital, Sibiu. Administration Miercurea Sibiului was declared a town in 2004. It is the 16th-smallest town in the country. The town administers two villages: * The village of Apoldu de Sus (''Großpold''; ''Nagyapold''), away * The village of Dobârca (''Dobring''; ''Doborka''), away. Also, 5 km away there is a small spa district, Băile Miercurea. At the 2011 census, 83.1% of inhabitants were Romanians, 14.7% Roma, and 1.9% Germans. Dunajská Streda (; ; ) is a town located in southern Slovakia ( Trnavský kraj). Dunajská Streda is the most culturally significant town in the Žitný ostrov area. The town has a population of 22,730, with ethnic Hungarians forming the 72% majority. Name The name of ''Syridahel'' was first mentioned in 1256. Other early written forms of the name were ''Zeredahely'' (1270) and ''Zredahel'' (1358). Szerdahely means "Wednesday (market)place" in Hungarian and it indicates the town had the privilege to hold a market on Wednesdays (although it was later changed to Fridays). The Hungarian word ''szerda'' is a loanword from Slavic languages; the word ''streda'' means Wednesday in Slovak, with related words existing in other Slavic languages, meaning the middle (''stred'') day in the week. Streda nad Bodrogom () is a village in Slovakia near Trebišov in the Košice Region. The village has the lowest altitude ( above sea level) in Slovakia.
