Syracuse Scorpions
The Syracuse Scorpions were an American soccer club based in Syracuse, New York and member of the American Soccer League. The club folded after the 1970 season, but was revived and renamed the Syracuse Suns. The club folded again after the 1971 season, but was revived again before the 1973 season. The team folded 5 games into the 1974 season and forfeited the rest of their games. A new Scorpions team was announced for the 2011-12 MISL season. Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), originally known as the National Indoor Soccer League, was a professional indoor soccer league which began play in 2008. It was the third league to be known as the Major Indoor Soccer League after the Major Indoor Soccer League (1978–92), MISL I and Major Indoor Soccer League (2001–08), MISL II. Utica City FC
Utica City FC is a professional indoor soccer team based in Utica, New York that plays in the Eastern Conference of the Major Arena Soccer League. History The team formed in 2011 as the Syracuse Silver Knights with the intention of playing in the new I-League (a United Soccer Leagues league set to begin play in 2011), but the team moved to the Major Indoor Soccer League when the two leagues merged. The team was rumored to be named the Syracuse Scorpions and revive the name of an old American Soccer League team. However, the name Silver Knights was announced at the team's inaugural press conference. The club is coached by former Silver Knights player, Ryan Hall, who replaced goalkeeper Bryan O'Quinn, who replaced club President, Team Owner and Syracuse native Tommy Tanner for the 2016–17 season.
