The Association of Synergy of Macao ( zh, t=傳新澳門協會; pt, Associação da Sinergia de Macau), often shortened to Synergy of Macao (; ), is a centrist political party in Macau. It is represented in the Legislative Assembly. History The formation of Synergy of Macao was announced on 5 February 2017 by Ron Lam U-tou, a former member of Macao Federation of Trade Unions, along with retired senior civil servant Vitor da Rocha Vai, former editor of ''Macao Daily News'' Ian Heng-ut, and then-vice-convener of Northern District Community Service Consultative Committee Ho Chong-chun. Lam raised concern over discussion of current issues in the society, which he described as rather subjective and lack of analysis. Building a new platform, Synergy of Macao aimed to monitor the government while solving social illnesses through new pathways, hence achieving a fair, free, and just community. 2017 Macanese Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Macau on 17 September 2017 according to the provisions of the Basic Law of Macau. Out of a total of 33 seats, 14 were directly elected by universal suffrage under the highest averages method, while 12 were voted on from the Indirect election, and 7 from nomination by the chief executive. Background Formerly a Portuguese colony, Macau has been a Special Administrative Region within China since 1999. As a Special Administrative Region it is entitled to a high degree of autonomy from the mainland Chinese legal system through the year 2050, although China represents the city on foreign policy matters. 2021 Macanese Legislative Election
Elections for the 7th Legislative Assembly of Macao ( pt, Eleições para a 7.ª Assembleia Legislativa de Macau) were held in Macau on 12 September 2021.
