The 4th Symphony "Martín y Soler" of Claudio Prieto was composed in 2006 as a commission by the Orquesta de Valencia, which premiered the work on February 23, 2007 with conductor Antoni Ros-Marbà. The symphony is made up of a single 50' long movement and was composed as a tribute to Valencian composer Vicente Martín y Soler Anastasio Martín Ignacio Vicente Tadeo Francisco Pellegrin Martín y Soler (2 May 175430 January or 10 February 1806) was a Spanish composer of opera and ballet. Claudio Prieto
Claudio Prieto (24 November 1934 – 5 April 2015) was a Spanish composer. He was born in Muñeca de la Peña, Palencia, and began his musical career as a boy in the mid-20th century playing various musical instruments for the municipal band of Guardo. He moved to San Lorenzo de El Escorial when he was 16 years, where he began his education with the musicologist Samuel Rubio. In 1960 he obtained a cultural exchange scholarship from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs admitting him to the advanced course taught in the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Over the next three years, he studied under Goffredo Petrassi, Bruno Maderna and Boris Porena. After completing the training he received a Higher Diploma from the academy and returned to Spain. The Valencia Orchestra (, ) is a symphony orchestra in Valencia, Spain. Founded in 1943 as the Valencia Municipal Orchestra, and a member of the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras (AEOS), it is ''not to be confused with'' the Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana, founded in 2006. Antoni Ros-Marbà
Antoni Ros-Marbà (; born 1937 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat) is a Spanish people, Spanish conducting, conductor and composer from Catalonia. He began his musical education at the Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona. He studied conducting with Eduard Toldrà, Sergiu Celibidache, and Jean Martinon. He coached the last ''Giravolt de maig'' directed by Eduard Toldrà: "I worked directly with him. Accompanying the singers with piano, it was a wonderful moment", says Ros-Marbà. In 1992, he took part in the first theatrical performance of Robert Gerhard's only opera, ''La Dueña'', at the Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Liceu, Gran Teatre del Liceu.
