''Symphonic Fantasies: Music from Square Enix'' was an award-winning symphonic tribute concert originally held in Cologne, Germany on September 12, 2009, at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall featuring video game music from Japanese game developer Square Enix. The concert featured symphonic movements based on the ''Kingdom Hearts'' series, ''Secret of Mana'', the ''Chrono'' series, and the ''Final Fantasy'' series. It was produced and directed by Thomas Böcker, with arrangements provided by Finnish composer and musician Jonne Valtonen with assistance by Roger Wanamo. Due to overwhelming demand, a second concert was added at the König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen, on September 11, 2009. Both performances were by the WDR Radio Orchestra Cologne and the WDR Radio Choir Cologne under conduction from Arnie Roth, with guest performers Rony Barrak and Benyamin Nuss joining the orchestra. Merregnon Studios
''Merregnon Studios'' is a company based in Dresden, Germany, founded by Thomas Böcker. It produces recordings and concerts worldwide, including the orchestral ''Merregnon'' and '' Game Concerts'' series. History ''Merregnon Studios'' was founded in 1999 by Thomas Böcker. Having spent time in Japan and as a lifelong fan of video game music, Böcker sought to bring orchestral video game music concerts to Europe and produce storytelling arrangements and scores. The earliest example of his vision came with the first volume in the ''Merregnon'' CD series in 2000. His role as executive producer and project director provided him with contacts to conductors, orchestras and composers from around the world, and he began to develop the concept of a series of video game music orchestra concerts. Kingdom Hearts
is a series of action role-playing games developed and published by Square Enix (originally by Square) and owned by The Walt Disney Company. A collaboration between the two companies, it was conceptualized by Square employees, Japanese game designers Tetsuya Nomura and Shinji Hashimoto; Nomura serves as the series' director. ''Kingdom Hearts'' is a crossover of various Disney properties based in an original fictional universe. The series centers on the main character, Sora, and his journey and experiences with various Disney characters, as well as some from Square Enix properties, such as ''Final Fantasy'', '' The World Ends with You'', and '' Einhänder'', in addition to original characters and locations created specifically for the series. ''Castlevania'' (), known in Japan as is a gothic horror action-adventure video game series and media franchise created by Konami.
