Symfonia
Symfonia was a short-lived symphonic power metal Supergroup (music), supergroup formed in 2010 by Andre Matos (vocals), Timo Tolkki (guitars), Jari Kainulainen (bass), Mikko Härkin (keyboards) and Uli Kusch (drums). On February 18, 2011, the band made its debut performance at the Finnish Metal Expo. The band released its only album, ''In Paradisum (Symfonia album), In Paradisum,'' in March 2011. History After touring together as members of Stratovarius and Angra (band), Angra, guitarist Timo Tolkki and vocalist Andre Matos became good friends. When Matos moved to Sweden, Tolkki called him and told him he had some song ideas he would like to show him. On the condition of being part of the songwriting process but not of the managing duties due to his other activities, Matos flew to Helsinki and started working on the songs, though at that time they did not know if those songs would be used in a band, or a project or anything alike. Andre Matos
Andre Coelho Matos (; 14 September 1971 – 8 June 2019) was a Brazilian singer and musician. He was involved in the heavy metal bands Viper, Angra, Shaman and Symfonia. Since 2006, Matos had been dedicating his time to his solo career. In 2012, he was ranked No. 77 at the list of 100 Greatest Voices of Brazilian Music by ''Rolling Stone Brasil''. Biography Viper, Angra and Shaman Matos grew up in his hometown of São Paulo. He began his musical education at the age of 10, when he received his first piano from his parents. As a teen, he would gather with his friends to listen to their favorite bands. Soon they began learning to play music too, and Matos joined his first band, Viper. Timo Tolkki
Timo Tapio Tolkki (born 3 March 1966) is a Finnish musician best known as the former guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer of the power metal band Stratovarius. With his tenure lasting for more than twenty years, he was the longest standing member of the band before his departure in 2008. After leaving Stratovarius he formed two supergroups named Revolution Renaissance and Symfonia, both of which have since disbanded. In a 2011 article by '' Guitar World'' magazine, Tolkki was included in the all-time top 50 list of the world's fastest guitarists. Uli Kusch
Ulrich Kusch (born 11 March 1967) is a German heavy metal drummer. He is best known for playing with Helloween, Gamma Ray, Masterplan and Holy Moses, among others. He is known for his technical style of playing, fast-paced speed metal-like rhythm, and capable songwriting abilities. Biography During the 1980s and early 1990s, he used to be a studio musician and played for many bands, such as Holy Moses, Mekong Delta among others. In 1990, after first drummer of Gamma Ray Mathias Burchardt quit the band, Kai Hansen recruited Uli to perform for his band. Mikko Härkin
Mikko Härkin (born 25 May 1979 in Kuopio, Finland) is a Finnish power metal keyboardist, who has performed with Sonata Arctica and Kenziner. History Härkin begun to study piano at the age of 5. He joined ''Kenziner'' in 1998 and with them recorded his first album, ''The Prophecies''. In 2000, he joined ''Sonata Arctica'' and toured Europe with ''Stratovarius'' and '' Rhapsody''. Härkin recorded keyboards for ''Sonata Arctica's'' second album, ''Silence'', which was released in 2001. ''Sonata Arctica's'' first live CD, named '' Songs of Silence'', featured Härkin on keyboards. At the end of 2002, Härkin left ''Sonata Arctica''. In Paradisum (Symfonia Album)
''In Paradisum'' is the debut and only album by multinational power metal band Symfonia, released on March 25, 2011, in Japan and April 1, 2011, in Europe. In paradisum ( English: "Into paradise") is an antiphon from the traditional Latin liturgy of the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass. The album was written by vocalist Andre Matos and guitarist Timo Tolkki, with the former focusing on lyrics and the latter focusing on the music, and both having some input on each other's parts. The drums were recorded in two days by Uli Kusch in a separate studio, with the guitars, bass and keyboards recorded in Helsinki. Work on vocals started on the first day of 2011 in a cabin on top of a mountain, where Matos and Tolkki remained isolated with no internet or telephone. Jari Kainulainen
Jari "Jartsi" Kainulainen (born 29 April 1970) is a Finnish bass guitarist. He is best known as the former bassist of the power metal band Stratovarius from 1993 to 2005. He is currently the bassist of Masterplan, having joined 2012. After his period in Stratovarius he founded his own band called Mess. Between 2002 and 2006, Kainulainen played bass with Kotipelto, a Finnish power metal band formed by Timo Kotipelto, singer of Stratovarius. In 2007, he joined the Swedish progressive power metal band Evergrey. In 2010, Jari Kainulainen created the power metal supergroup Symfonia along with Andre Matos, Timo Tolkki, Mikko Härkin and Uli Kusch. He joined Masterplan in 2012. In 2013, he created the melodic power metal band Shadowquest. Kainulainen plays Ibanez six-string basses and uses Ampeg amplifiers.
