Sylvette Frichot
Sylvette Frichot, sometimes Sylvette Frichot-Pool or Sylvette Pool (born 1945) is a former politician in the Seychelles. Frichot trained in her youth as a teacher, but soon found that she was paid much less than men. The National Committee on Pay Equity defended this idea by referencing that women made 59 cents to every dollar that men made in 1963. In 1966 she joined the Seychelles People's United Party, now known as the Seychelles People's Progressive Front, where she began doing clerical work. She was later appointed a principal coordinator. In 1968, Frichot found the party's Women's League, of which she was elected chair from 1970 to 1977. It is clear that Frichot found herself in leadership positions among women more times than not. She has also held a number of leadership positions in the wider party. Seychelles People's United Party
United Seychelles is a political party in Seychelles. It publishes a newspaper called ''The People''. It was known as the Seychelles People's Progressive Front (french: Front Progressiste du Peuple Seychellois) until June 2009, when it changed its name to the People's Party (Seychellois Creole: ''Parti Lepep'', PL). The party changed its name again in November 2018, from the People's Party to United Seychelles. The party was founded in 1964 by France-Albert René, under the name Seychelles People's United Party, and it was led by him from its inception. France-Albert René (; 16 November 1934 – 27 February 2019) was a Seychellois lawyer, politician and statesman who served as the second President of Seychelles from 1977 to 2004. He also served as the country's 2nd Prime Minister from its independence in 1976 to 1977. He was nicknamed by Seychellois government officials and fellow party members as "the Boss". His name is often given as simply Albert René or F.A. René; he was also nicknamed Ti France.
