Syed Nurul Islam is a former deputy inspector general of the Bangladesh Police and former in charge of Dhaka Range. He is the former deputy commissioner of Motijheel Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He was the additional deputy commissioner of Ramna Division. Islam is the former superintendent of police of Mymensingh District. He is the former police superintendent of Comilla District. He is the former superintendent of police of Narayanganj District. Bangladesh Chhatra League
Bangladesh Chhatra League, simply Chhatra League (), is the student wing of the political party, Bangladesh Awami League, founded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 4 January 1948. The organisation is banned and listed as a terrorist organisation in Bangladesh. BCL has been repeatedly accused of committing mass violence including torture, extortion, forced prostitution, killings to instill fear. At least 33 people were killed and 1,500 were seriously injured from attacks by BSL between 2009 and 2014. The number of fatalities rose to 129 between 2014 and 2018 while 31 people were killed in 2018 alone. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (17 March 1920 – 15 August 1975), also known by the honorific Bangabandhu, was a Bangladeshi politician, revolutionary, statesman and activist who was the founding president of Bangladesh. Habibur Rahman (police Officer)
Habibur Rahman (; born 1 January 1967) is a former police officer of Bangladesh. He served as 35th commissioner of DMP. Prior to join here he was head of the Tourist Police. From 2019 to 2022, he was deputy inspector general (DIG) of Dhaka Range, and DIG of administration and discipline at the police headquarters in Dhaka. He was sent into retirement from government service in public interest according to the provisions of section no. 45 of the Public Service Act, 2018. After 5th August 2024, he was absent from his posts and have allegedly fled from the country. International Crimes Tribunal (Bangladesh)
The International Crimes Tribunal (Bangladesh), abbreviated as, ICT (Bangladesh), is a domestic war crimes tribunal in Bangladesh set up in 2009 to investigate and prosecute suspects for the genocide committed in 1971 by the Pakistan Army and their local collaborators Razakars, Al-Badr and Al-Shams during the Bangladesh Liberation War. During the 2008 general election, the Awami League (AL) pledged to try war criminals. The government set up the tribunal after the Awami League won the general election in December 2008 with a more than two-thirds majority in parliament. The War Crimes Fact Finding Committee, tasked to investigate and find evidence, completed its report in 2008, identifying 1,600 suspects. Prior to the formation of the ICT, the United Nations Development Programme offered assistance in 2009 on the tribunal's formation.
