Syed Mohsin Ali
Syed Mohsin Ali (12 December 1948 – 14 September 2015) was a Bangladeshi politician. He served as the Member of Parliament from Moulvibazar-3 and the Ministry of Social Welfare (Bangladesh), Social Welfare Minister of the government of Bangladesh. He was given Independence Day Award in 2017 by the government of Bangladesh. Early life Ali began his education in Kolkata. He passed Junior Cambridge and Senior Cambridge from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, St. Xavier's College. Then he studied in Bengali medium for some days in Bangladesh. Then again he completed diploma in management from Kolkata. Career Ali started his politics as a Bangladesh Chhatra League activist. He served as the president of the Moulvibazar unit of Awami League during 1998–2005. He was elected as the municipality's chairman three times. Sylhet District
Sylhet District (), located in north-east Bangladesh, is one of the four districts in Sylhet Division, which contains Sylhet, the regional capital. History Sylhet District was established on 3 January 1782, and until 1878 it was part of Bengal Province under Dhaka Division. However, in that year, Sylhet was moved to the newly created Assam Province, and it remained as part of Assam up to 1947 (except during the administrative reorganisation of Bengal Presidency, Bengal Province between 1905 and 1912). Sylhet District was divided into five subdivisions and the current Sylhet District was known as the North Sylhet subdivision. MAG Osmani
Muhammad Ataul Gani Osmani (1 September 1918 – 16 February 1984) was a Bangladeshi military officer, revolutionary and politician. His military career spanned three decades, beginning with his service in the British Indian Army in 1939. He fought in the Burma Campaign during World War II, and after the partition of India in 1947, he joined the Pakistan Army and served in the East Bengal Regiment, retiring as a colonel in 1967. Osmani joined the Provisional Government of Bangladesh in 1971 as the commander-in-chief of the nascent Bangladesh Forces. Regarded as the founder of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, Osmani retired as a four star general from the Bangladesh Army in 1972. Osmani entered politics in independent Bangladesh, serving as a member of parliament and cabinet minister in the government of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Moulvibazar
Moulvibazar (), is a town in north-eastern Bangladesh just south of Sylhet. It is the capital of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila and Moulvibazar District, and is located on the banks of the Manu River, Tripura, Manu River. History In 1771, Moulvi Syed Qudratullah established a bazaar near the banks of the Manu River, Tripura, Manu River using his zamindari land. He started importing edible goods, such as fruits and vegetables opening up opportunities for people to purchase as well as sell. The location allowed easy access through river and land transport. The bazaar became the headquarters of South Sylhet subdivision in 1882. In 1891, Moulvibazar Govt. High School, the central school of Moulvibazar was established. Bangladesh Chhatra League
Bangladesh Chhatra League, simply Chhatra League (), is the student wing of the political party, Bangladesh Awami League, founded by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 4 January 1948. The organisation is banned and listed as a terrorist organisation in Bangladesh. BCL has been repeatedly accused of committing mass violence including torture, extortion, forced prostitution, killings to instill fear. At least 33 people were killed and 1,500 were seriously injured from attacks by BSL between 2009 and 2014. The number of fatalities rose to 129 between 2014 and 2018 while 31 people were killed in 2018 alone. A BSL leader was arrested for links with the banned terrorist group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh in a militant hunt after the July 2016 Dhaka attack.
