Sydney Metro Northwest
Sydney Metro North West was a rapid transit project that constructed the first section of the Metro Northwest and Bankstown Line through the north-western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The project included the conversion of the existing Epping to Chatswood rail link to metro standards and connects the suburbs of Rouse Hill and Chatswood via Castle Hill and Epping. The project was managed by Transport for NSW. The line is part of the Sydney Metro system. The completed Metro North West line opened on 26 May 2019, and was later extended to Sydenham via the CBD, which opened on 19 August 2024. Prior to June 2015, the project was known as the North West Rail Link (NWRL). Originally, "North West Rail Link" referred to the section between Epping and Rouse Hill. North West Metro
Sydney Metro was a proposed rapid transit railway network in Sydney, intended to connect the central business district (CBD) with the inner and outer city suburbs Rouse Hill, Westmead, Malabar and lower North Shore. Initially proposed in 2008 as 'Metro Link', the plan was modified and renamed later that year. After half a billion dollars was spent on planning, property acquisitions and a tender process, it was cancelled in 2010. The fate of the initial Metro proposal was tied to the fate of a plan to privatise much of the then state-owned electricity sector, a plan which would have released tens of billions of dollars in capital for investment in new infrastructure. Inner West
The Inner West of Sydney is an area directly west of the Sydney central business district, New South Wales, Australia. The suburbs that make up the Inner West are predominantly located along the southern shore of Port Jackson (Parramatta River), stretching south to the shores of the Cooks River. The western boundary of the Inner West is approximately the A3 arterial road (Homebush Bay Drive / Centenary Drive), which divides the Inner West from the Greater Western Sydney region. The Main North Line (also known as the Great Northern Railway) is a major railway in New South Wales, Australia, running from Strathfield in Sydney to Armidale. The 1980s saw the line closed progressively north of Armidale; passenger services north of Tamworth were cancelled in 1990 but were reintroduced as far as the former two years later. Epping To Chatswood Railway Line
The Epping to Chatswood rail link (ECRL) (originally a part of the Parramatta Rail Link (PRL) proposal) is a railway line in the northern suburbs of Sydney, Australia, which connects Epping station on the Northern line with Chatswood on the North Shore line. It was formerly considered its own railway line, but is now part of the Metro North West & Bankstown Line. The line runs completely underground and includes three intermediate stations: Macquarie University, Macquarie Park and North Ryde. The junction stations at Epping and Chatswood both underwent major redevelopments to incorporate the new link. As a suburban line, it was in service for less than a decade, opening in February 2009 and closing in September 2018 for conversion. Sydney Metro City & Southwest
Sydney Metro City and Southwest is a rapid transit construction project in Sydney, Australia. The project will extend the Metro Northwest and Bankstown Line from on the North Shore, to in the city's southwest via the Sydney central business district. The line is part of the Sydney Metro system. The project consists of two main components. The first is a new twin-tunnel rail crossing under Sydney Harbour and through the city to with seven new underground stations in central Sydney, making it Australia's longest tunnel. The second is the conversion of 11 stations on a portion of the existing Bankstown line on the Sydney Trains network for use by autonomous trains.
