''Sycophant Records'' was a Nottingham based Independent label that published its first vinyl single release in 1990 for a local band called Meatfly. This release followed with more signings and releases from the likes of Force Fed, Skink, Pitchshifter, and the Scum Pups, to name but a few. Grebo (music)
Grebo (or grebo rock) was a short-lived subculture and broadly-defined subgenre of indie rock centred around the Midlands, particularly Stourbridge and Leicester. Musically, the genre incorporated elements of electronic, punk rock, folk and hip hop music into indie rock. The scene occupied the period in the late 1980s and early 1990s in the United Kingdom before the popularisation of Britpop and grunge. Pitchshifter
Pitchshifter (originally Pitch Shifter) are an English industrial metal band from Nottingham, formed in 1989. The band was started by lead guitarist and programmer Johnny A. Carter, and bassist and vocalist Mark Clayden. The band's early material was characterized for its gritty industrial metal sound with downtuned guitars and the use of drum machines, and has been cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh. With later albums the group's music became increasingly more melodic and strongly influenced by nu metal and drum and bass; particularly evident of their 1998 release '' www.pitchshifter.com'', which has been compared with groups like The Prodigy.
