Sword Of Honour (Pakistan)
The Sword of Honour is a prestigious award given to the top-performing Gentleman Cadet, Officer Cadet, Aviation Cadet or Lady Cadet during their training period at the Pakistan Military Academy, Pakistan Air Force Academy, Pakistan Naval Academy and the Officers Training School (until 1990). It is considered one of the highest distinctions in the Pakistan Armed Forces, as cadets aspire to win it. The sword is traditionally presented to the recipient during the passing out parade, held biannually at each academy's parade ground. On 22 September 2006, aviation cadet Saira Amin became the first lady officer to be presented with the Sword of Honour at the passing out parade of the 117th GD Pilot Course. Passing out is the official graduation ceremony following the completion of a course by military or other uniformed service personnel at their respective training school, college, or military academy, largely in Commonwealth nations. Soldiers, sailors, or airmen take part in a passing out military parade upon completion of a basic training course. Attock ( Punjabi, ), formerly known as Campbellpur (Punjabi, ), is a city in Punjab, Pakistan, not far from the country's capital Islamabad. Shahid Aziz () is a Pakistani military author and a public official who served as the Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from 2004 to 2007, and university administrator of the Federal Urdu University in 2014–16. Major Muhammad Shabbir Sharif ( ; c. 28 April 1943 – 6 December 1971), was a Pakistani military officer and the seventh recipient of Pakistan's highest military award, Nishan-e-Haider, which he was posthumously awarded for his actions of valor during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Saadullah Khan () was an officer of Pakistan Army, who participated in the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. He is known for being the Commanding Officer of 27 Infantry Brigade during Operation Cactus Lily. For his contribution, he was awarded the Hilal-i-Jur'at. Raja Aziz Bhatti (6 August 192812 September 1965) was a Pakistani military officer and the 4th recipient of Pakistan's highest military award, the Nishan-e-Haider, which he received posthumously after he was killed in action during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. Born in British Hong Kong, Bhatti attended the Queen's College and was later drafted into the Imperial Japanese Navy, during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, in 1944, first serving as a seaman recruit and later a tower watchman. The following year, he relocated to British India where he joined the British Indian Air Force as an airman in June 1946.
