''Switched'' is the first book of the young adult paranormal literature series the Trylle Trilogy. It follows the story of Wendy Everly as she meets Finn Holmes, who informs her of her inherited royal status and true identity as a member of the Trylle. Background ''Switched'' was first self-published as an eBook by author Amanda Hocking in early 2010, and was published in paperback by St. Martin's Press on January 24, 2012. Amanda Hocking
Amanda Hocking (born July 12, 1984) is an American writer of paranormal romance young adult fiction. Early life Hocking was born and raised in Austin, Minnesota. After high school, she studied human services while working in a group home for people with disabilities. Career While employed as a group home worker, she wrote 17 novels in her free time. Hocking left her employment as a group home worker and started self-publishing her novels as e-books in April 2010, at the age of 25. By March 2011, she had sold more than a million copies of her first nine books and earned two million dollars from sales, previously unheard of for self-published authors. Terri Tatchell (born January 1, 1978) is a Canadian screenwriter, best known for co-writing the screenplay of ''District 9'', which was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 82nd Academy Awards. Career Tatchell graduated in 2001 from the Vancouver Film School's Writing for Film and Television program. She began her screenwriting career in 2006 with thIDEALOGUEshort action film ''Adicolor Yellow'' under the direction of her husband Neill Blomkamp. In 2008, Tatchell wrote, with Blomkamp, the screenplay of the science-fiction film ''District 9'', which was released in 2009. A troll is a being in Nordic folklore, including Norse mythology. A changeling, also historically referred to as an auf or oaf, is a human-like creature found throughout much of European folklore. According to folklore, a changeling was a substitute left by a supernatural being when kidnapping a human being. Sometimes the changeling was a "stock" (a piece of wood made magically to resemble the kidnapped human), more often the changeling was a supernatural being made magically to look like the kidnapped human.
