''Sweet Evil Sun'' is the thirteenth studio album by Swedish doom metal band Candlemass. It was released on 18 November 2022 through Napalm Records. Recording sessions took place at Nox Studios in Jakobsberg. Production was handled by Marcus Jidell. The album debuted at number 52 in Sweden, number 37 in Switzerland and number 42 in Germany. It also made it to number 19 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums and number 44 on the UK Independent Albums. Candlemass (band)
Candlemass is a Swedish doom metal band formed in Upplands Väsby Municipality, Upplands Väsby, a suburb of Stockholm, in 1984 by bassist, songwriter, and bandleader Leif Edling, alongside drummer Matz Ekström. The band has had a defining influence on doom metal, with the epic doom genre itself taking its name from their debut album ''Epicus Doomicus Metallicus''. Jakobsberg is a suburban area (pop. ca 32 643 in the year 2022) within Stockholm urban area, and the seat of Järfälla Municipality, Stockholm County in Sweden. Napalm Records
Napalm Records is an Austrian independent record label focused on heavy metal, hard rock and folk/folk rock/folk metal. Originally, Napalm focused on black metal bands, such as Abigor and Summoning, and folk metal bands, such as Falkenbach and Vintersorg. Leif Edling
Leif Edling (born 6 August 1963) is a Swedish musician, best known as the bassist, main songwriter and one of the founding members of the doom metal band Candlemass (band), Candlemass. He is the only constant member of the band since its inception to the present day. Nevertheless, since the band's second reunion in 2002 Edling has been backed up again by founding rhythm guitarist Mats Björkman, who had been absent from 1997 to 2002. Biography Edling started his musical career in the band Trilogy, then under the name of Toxic, as a singer together with Ian Haugland (later the drummer of Europe (band), Europe) in 1979. He then played in a band named Witchcraft but left in 1981 and formed Nemesis in 1982. Before the Candlemass official releases, Edling also handled vocal duties in addition to playing bass.
